New ATI Control Center Avaible!!!!!!

I'm reading the thread over at Rage3D, and from what I've read I'm gonna skip this iteration of the CCC. All I really wanted was the official 4.9 driver set anyways.

*heads off to delete downloaded CCC file*

I've been a guinea pig for the past couple months, its actually quite stable. You can try it out and if you don't like it, uninstalling it enables the legacy Control Panel. Don't forget to install Microsoft?s .NET version 1.1 framework first, and remember its only supported on r300 and newer for now (RADEON 9500, RADEON 9600, RADEON 9700, RADEON 9800, RADEON X300, RADEON X600, or RADEON X800)

I'd appreciate any bugs you run across to post them in this thread.🙂 and of course a report to the Catalyst Crew 😉

No, that is incorrect. You can download the new CCC with CAT 4.8 integrated together right now straight from ATI. I'm waiting for the new CCC to be integrated with CAT 4.9 before I take the plunge.

ok, i no longer believe that 😉

I think it's kind of complicated and bulky. It should have been different.

There is nothing better than 3dfx's driver setup. And these drivers aren't more customizeable in terms of graphics. Although I kind of like the car, you should be able to control it, cause it's annoying when you are trying to look at something and it's moving and then you lose it.

Finally, ATi does something right this time around. After their botched launch and poor availability, and the lack of features, I was beginning to thinkg they were having their own personal day under the cloud just like Nvidia. Here's a bright spot though....

Does anyone know if ATI finaly got around to implementing taskbar spanning? That feature is avaiable from all Nvidia dualHead products and has always been available in Matrox cards. It seems a real shame if ATI didn't implement it in their latest driver/Control Center.

the control center now offers:
extended desktop mode: independent display settings for each screen (only one taskbar on primary display)
clone mode: same image on two displays (both get taskbar)
horizontal stretch mode: both monitors become one screen with a resolution of 2048 x768 (taskbar stretches across both monitors; clock is on second monitor, start menu on first)

is that what you meant?

ok, after about 4 hours worth of use....i think it is way too buggy. had a heck of a time playing win media player. between 2-5 CLI.EXE apps and a wizard.exe apps would run in the task manager every time I opened and closed the control center. and it would hang at a lot of steps. all this in win2000. 🙁

blah. used it. all eye candy. i'd rather go to properties - settings - advanced - 3D tab then use this "control center".

Can't you setup different setups for OpenGL and DX??? I don't like that. Everything else seems fine, just as it used to be but with better looks. I like profiles options 😀

Yes that is precisely what I meant. Where is the horozontal strech option? I was not able to find it anywhere.😕
