how to do I force vsync on? the option is only limited to vsync - always off or application preference. Counter-Strike is default to vsync off. there's no option to turn it on, _vid_wait is not supported. never like the image tearing/shearing on games.

i searched rage3d.com, but no definite solution. just a bunch of grievances for ATI's stupidity. /shakes head and fist to ati.

I was more than a little worried when I saw no "always on" option for vsync in the ATI drivers too. This was something I got used to with my GeForce 2 and 3. I haven't tested that many games yet, but so far I have been able to get vsync on in the few I've tested. ST:Voyager:Elite Force uses the Quake3 engine so I had to type "r_swapinterval 1" in the console before vsync would switch on (even though there is a vsync option in the main menu, it doesn't work).

I'm like you, I can't stand vsync off for anything but benchmarking and I hope I'm not gonna find a game I can't switch it on for.

Right, I've got the drivers installed and there are no changes over the Catalyst 2.2s in terms of performance except Serious Sam 1 & 2 are both faster by around 5% across the board (1600 x 1200 x 32, 128 tap anisotropic filtering). Also the anisotropic filtering options in the control panel are now correctly being applied when I make changes.

I went back to cat 2.2. The vsync is ON again in Counter-Strike. I think ATI is turnend vsync OFF on cat. 2.3 by default or they broke it. :frown:
