New Athlon lappys that have PowerNow

I bought the laptop to play games on the battery. Now my games are barely playable because the laptop goes into survivor mode with the powernow technology bringing my mhz speed down to 400. I looked everywhere to find a way to control its speed by selecting full performance and what not, nothing gives.

Thanks for any suggestions
 
ur laptop wont go into powernow when ur using a lot of cpu resources, at least it shouldnt. i know cuz i have a laptop like what ur talking about. what sux about powernow is that it does take several seconds to jumpstart it back into full speed.
 
I don't have such problem when playing on battery... But I think Powernow will automatically set the speed it needs. Or maybe that 'survivor mode' is caused by low batt?
 
No its not from low battery. I start playing WoW and the lappy drops from 27fps down to 8fps when i pull the power. Battery is completely charged.
