Not sure if Asus has done the same for other AMD boards, but the new 1402 BIOS for the M4A78T-E allows for unlockable cores via the 'CPU Unleash' option under ACC.

I'm pretty stoked as Ive had to use the semi-broken modded 802 BIOS which really wasnt stable for everyday use (lots of coold boots, restarting etc).

To get the new BIOS to boot I had to start with fresh settings (cleared CMOS) without using any old OC profiles, disabling C1E and setting ACC to Per Core 0%. ... your mileage may vary.

Just a heads up for you ASUS/x3 ppl out there.

Now wait for the X2 550's to show up and see what they can do :D (imagine an X4 Proc for around 100 bucks :D )

EDIT: I guess at least the Deluxe version has had this option since 27th of May ...

well after dicking around with the settings it seems that this release in unleash mode isn't any more bug free then the modded 802 BIOS. I still have issues with sleep under Vista/Win7 x64 - cold booting, having to restart through overclocking failed screens, etc.

Anyone else with this MB have any suggestions to get things working a bit better ?
