the latest one is classic, the web cam one is hilarious, a lot of them suck but most commercials suck period. I love Apples and would be running one if I wasn't a cheap ass. After using a friends Garage, Final Cut Pro II & iLife I wish I could afford a mac in addition to my PC. but since they cost an arm an a leg, so I took my tiny bit of money and bought more memory for my PC instead 🙂

You further prove the point of Macs and PCs being two totally different options for different sorts of people. Thank you. 🙂
These commercials are bogus.
IF YOU LIKE TO BE CREATIVE IE: MUSIC, IMAGING, ETC GET A MAC
IF YOU LIKE GAMES, PC
That SHOULD be the end of discussion, but a lot of people take the debate too far.

I do all the stuff you mentioned with no problem on my PC 😕

I do hate the ads though! Soon some bad ass OS X virus will come along and wipe those smug faces off all the Mac people and I will just laugh in their face!

just convince everyone in china/eastern europe that it's worthwhile to write viruses for OSX just so apple will STFU? 😛

Maybe all the stupid consumers should buy Macs, so the attention is shifted to making viruses for them. Mostly, its the popularity of Macs that are working in their favor.

Just looking at some of their reasons to buy a Mac makes me laugh.

1. "It just works!" - Well, who the fvck would have thought of that. Macs work people!

2. "The latest Intel processors!" - Yes, come here! Pay double what you would for Intel processors in our systems. Somehow the quote from their page "What?s an Intel chip doing inside a Mac? A lot more than it ever did inside a PC." Doesnt make much sense, does it?

3. "No hunting for drivers" - ALMOST everything works with a Mac. Well, depending on what "almost" measures to you, Windows could be "virtually" or "close-to" working with everything. Why do I want to know this?

4. "Design that turns heads" - Buy OUR PC's because they look cool! Nevermind the fact you can buy different cases and customize the look of both Mac's and Windows PC's. This claim is just stupid, and really just concretes the Apple buyer stereotype.

All of the rest are just to pointless, and could be performed on a Windows PC, for cheaper, with A LOT better upgrading opportunities, and with software that does the same you can do on a Mac.

I bet if Mac's ever become as mainstream as Windows PC's are right now, they stop developing iTunes and all other Mac developed software to Windows. If they think Windows sucks so bad, why do they brag about being able to run it?

The commercials are pretty funny, however all they boil down to is that Apple has a genius marketing department. We all know that M$ could make counter-commercials and run them all day long due to the amount of capital available.

I think the question that begs to be answered is why isn't M$ concerned with losing market share? How much market share are they losing to Apple and the ipod trend/marketing? Does M$ even care? Probably not, but should they?😉

That's my .02.

I just saw the bodyguard one for the first time, and I have to say it was pretty damn funny. If it weren't for Hodgeman none of them would be half as funny, imo.

"You're pointing out Vista's flaws. Cancel or Allow?"

major problem is people like hodgeman, making him the pc was a big mistake for apple, talk about backfire. they shoulda had a haxor kiddie cheating at games while smack talking on the mic or something representing pc. something people really hate

I really don't like the commercials much. All anti-Apple bias aside (and yes I am biased), based on the commercials alone I would avoid the product altogether if I didn't know any better. But then I'm not a smug noob who thinks it's fashionable to spend more money on the same product... ahh, but I digress...

If the ads are such big lies why are PC makers and/or Microsoft NOT suing them to remove the Ads?

Because they want to prove they can keep their market share even with these ads?

The ads are not as harmful to Microsoft as they are to computer manufacturers (like Dell), if someone buys a Mac, its very probably they'll still buy Windows and install it (and Apple knows this, one of the big features of Macs on the Apple site are "they run Windows too") so Microsoft is not damaged by this, in fact, MS was probably happy Apple released Boot Camp, they probably make more money selling a retail copy of Windows rather than through OEM licensing.

Microsoft doesn't even compete with Apple, right now you don't choose a Mac or a PC based on which is better, you choose them based on what you'll do with your computer... so really Apple is wasting too much time on money on their anti-microsoft campaign, sure Vista may suck but OSX may suck even more in the sense it will not let me run the software I need or want... (for example games), many companies have in-house developed software that only runs on Windows...

And some of the commercials are not so real (or fair) either, OSX also has a UAC-like security feature, as does Linux because its a great feature, Vista UAC popups are quite common during the first days of use but after 2 months of use, I barely see any popups, in OSX, I have to type my password everytime I want to install something... so yeah, UAC is a great feature, don't diss it Apple. Next thing you know Apple will be mocking the windows sidebar or indexed searching... when MS's implementations are much better than their own. And before you say anything, I own 4 Macs and use OSX daily and constantly alongside Vista.

I also say not fair because while OSX may be a more secure system overall (give credit where its due, in the exact same conditions, including equal userbase, OSX would be a more secure system than NT), if it was as popular as Windows it would be filled with security bugs and holes. Also unfairness is seen when design is factored in the equation, most PCs are bland and crappy looking but there are a few companies that make products that are as stylish as Apple's, so its really an unfair point. Also being able to control the hardware and software is a big advantage, if Apple lost control of the hardware OSX runs on... they would be having the exact same "hunting for drivers" and other stuff they make fun of, so its not really Microsoft's fault.

I still think OSX is the superior system but Vista is very very nice and in some aspects its much better than OSX (for example gaming). If there is one thing I dislike about Apple is their bold and sometimes idiotic advertising campaigns and criticism versus the competition, 5 years ago they were making fun of Intel processors now they are using because Motorola's PowerPC 970 architecture is one of the biggest disgraces the processor industry has seen in a long time...

And Macs can give lots of trouble as well... recently my MBP's battery died and I had to get another one through warranty, my Power Mac G4 used to give kernel errors until I used an air compressor to dust it and improve airflow.

So what is my point? I use XP, Vista and OSX machines daily and I use the windows computers more simply because it lets me do what I need to do.. Apple is making a big deal about a product they don't even compete with... that would be like a SUV manufacturer wasting all their money on advertising campaing directly against... say compact cars, different cars for different people. I don't care how much better the SUV is because I want and need a compact.

PC = personal computer. No copyright or legal ownership of the term. Notice the commercials don't say Windows, AMD, etc.

They are comparing Apples to Oranges, oops I mean PC's in the commercials. The way I see it is they both have their pros and cons and I'm not going to let marketing junk tell me which is better.
