are you running the 6800gt right now? if so look on the NVidia control panel, it will either say bus: PCI express x16 or AGP 8x

I'm confused, you're going to pick out a computer from parts to build it, but you didn't want to open your current computer to see what kind of videocard you had?

Is your brother going to build it for you or something?

EDIT: oh, and welcome to AT.

yes he is going 2 build it for me, but he is a very busy person with his work which is why he wanted me 2 look up all this stuff for him, he told me to make a compltly new computer with 2200 canadian dollers, he told me 2 ask here for the best parts for it and he will build it. the computer im using atm is his old one not his new one, im going 2 make a compltly new one from scratch, but hes giving me his old 6800gt graphics card.

so in other works theres 2 comupters atm, this 1 and his new one, and i want 2 make one with 2200. which would make 3.

Do you have any other parts you can use again?

Like do you know if you could reuse the soundcard if you have one, or the harddrive, or and CD burners/DVD burners?

Do you need windows?

Yeah, I realize that, but I wanted to know how he was going to build a system when he doesn't want to even look in his current one.

I get it now.

That's a fair bit of money for a computer these days. Do you really want to spend it all? Are you going to be doing anything with this computer beyond the usual browsing, etc., and gaming?

Do you need them to all work at the end, or were you going to have one without a videocard?

Anyways it doesnt' matter, because like CKXP said, we can do better than that 6800gt and leave that in this computer you're using now if you're after a gaming computer.

We get it that you're getting a free 6800gt, but with a $2000 budget you're better off not using it.
