bought a new AMP 2-231652-1 crimper, but having an issue with RJ-45 heads not fitting into the slot. the head can only go halfway in before the pins get caught on the inside bar. seems to be 1-2mm too high for the head to get in?

i thought maybe the dye was defective so tried another dye head, but still the same result. am i supposed to do something else or is the tool defective?

I could be wrong but I though you needed the red, white or grey die for those for cat5/6.

Black was really for shielded cable, do you have the correct end for it?

Squeeze tight through all the ratchets until the tool releases all the way. Now put the connector in. You can't insert the connector when the tool is partly ratcheted.

Have you tried different connectors?
The ones you have don't, perchance, have a nub on the left side (with the connector's nose up, clip away from you) do they?

If you have an already-crimped cable around, does that connector fit into the die?

yeah, a crimped head slides in easily. no, this is a regular RJ-45 head. i have tried a AMP head and a generic head also. same result.
