New AMD XP mobile 2500+ Unknown CPU-- Help

I just built up my Abit Nf7-S v2 latest bios 21 and my Athlon XP 2500+ mobile and the bios can't identify it. Is this to be expected since it is a mobile processor and when do you think Abit will release an update that identifies it? Any links or can someone give me some optimal settings including settings for my RAM, which is the Mushkin 3500 suggested in the recent overclockers system here and Anandtech. This is an awesome forum and I'm real psyched to get this processor up and running. Also BTW I had to grind down one side of my Thermalright 947U heatsink to make it fit.

CPU: 133fsb*14 is default for the mobile version, and 166fsb*11 for the desktop version (I think). I put my mobile on an Abit AN7 to 200fsb*10, with a SP97 heat sink and vantec stealth fan, and it's had no trouble at all. I'll take it higher soon.

But was your cpu identified by name ?

most everyone has the same issue. Don't worry about it.

Right... it's a non-issue unless your friends don't believe what CPU you have just cause the BIOS doesn't recognize it during POST.

just because it doesnt show the name of the cpu doesnt mean it is hurting it in any way other than that, the performance is the same, so as stated before, dont worry about it.

I usually get "Unknown CPU Type" under window's system information, but the more important thing is the GHz you get underneath that and the performance to match. Worst case senario is that we don't have no name companies throwing together bootleg 3200+ rigs using these mobile chips by just upping the multiplier; everybody wins who deserves to.

Right... I do now, but with the BIOS set to defaults, it detects it as a Mobile AMD Athlon XP
