New AMD Mobo and CPU... Will this work please help.

Hi, guys im trying to upgrade my PC I want to buy a BIOSTAR TA790GXE 128M AM2+/AM3 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX Mobo and AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2Ghz x 512 L2 Cache 6MB L3 Chache Socket AM3 125W Quad Core CPU. My current PC is in my Sig , my parts should work with this mobo and CPU right ? Or should i get a AM3 mobo ? and get DDR3 ram ? I want a complete AMD setup since i got two 4890's in crossfire. Also will my Thermalright Ultra CPU cooler work with this setup or i need a new one ?

Here is my current setup, is it even worth it to upgrade ?

If you really think you'll notice the difference of a quad core (for example, if you do video encoding), I'd suggest just grabbing a Q9550 and saving money on the complete rebuild. Your system isn't that old.

If you're just looking for better gaming performance, a quad core probably isn't going to be much better than your E8400. You might notice better performance in Supreme Commander and POSSIBLY in WoW, but that's about it.

Let me get this straight. You want to spend about $360 ($90 board, $190 CPU, $80 DDR3 RAM) to get an AMD CPU simply for the sake of having a pure AMD system? Only you can answer whether or not this is "worth it."

If all I did was game, I'd sell the 2x4890s and use the $360 to upgrade to 2x5850s.
