It's not present in all games. At least to a point of being noticeable. If you read [H]'s reviews, for example, they will point out when a particular game seems to be running slower than the FPS would indicate. They've been doing this far longer than FCAT has been around.

Many people use vsync which fixes the problem in most all games. The ones that it doesn't you can use a FPS cap.

Are you still trying to push VSYNC or FPS cap (as already debunked by many) as a "solution"?

Really?

When will it stop?

yes, AMD's software frame metering it seems to work well

the video is pretty good to show the huge difference in smoothness

still, it's hard to understand how so many users have been happy with CF without this for so long...

Its because we game with vsync and tripple buffering on for ages, ever since the good ole days. Screen tear is heaps worse than micro-stuttering. Also, many gamers feel frames too high is a waste of resources/heat as they are happy with constant 60 fps.

With Radeon Pro's dynamic vsync, you can now run without tripple buffering for less input lag and again, smooth gameplay with no screen tear. Takes a few minutes to dl and setup, and you get amazing perf/$ from 2x 7950s etc.

Normal vsync obviously has issues with dropping to 1/2 refresh rate.

I ask myself the same question every time you post anything.

So false information is better than facts...really?
3D already has had it made clear for him that neither Vsync nor FPS cap is a true solution...but yet he keeps posting false information.

So much FUD in the defense of AMD's lack-luster multi-GPU...it's quite sad...but do keep the personal attacks up :whiste:

Have you ever posted anything constructive in your tenure here?

It's beyond me how the mods do nothing about you.

Fun fact:
AMD drops the ball.
Point out this fact = red defense team goes personal.

To bad it won't make the blunder go away ^^

Dude give it a rest.Unless you own AMD cards why do you bother if AMD improves their drivers or not?

Who are you trying to convince? other people or yourself? If its other people you are doing one hell of a bad job. If its yourself, you must be doing a bad job as well, I would expected with the amount you post you would have convinced yourself already.

Because I encounter false claims about performance all the time.
Hell people have even used the useless AT review single FPS number to indicate a "win" over NVIDIA.

Unless you debunk FUD like that...less infomred people will buy into it.

But funny how it me that is the problem...and not AMD's lack-luster multi-GPU...

Her no evil, see no eveil eh?

Well...I for one, will NOT stick my head in the sand and be silent...don't like it...use ignore...because you wil NOT shut me up with petty ad hominem.

I'm not saying you are the problem.I believe we can safely say that AMD's mGPU offering is worse than NVIDIA but saying the thing over and over again does no good.FPS are not meaningless that is entirely untrue.

The SINGLE digit FPS in AT's 7990 review is USELESS.

And sadly it has been used, by poster on this board" to "prove" it was better than GTX690 og GTX Titan...so it CANNOT be said enough times, since broken numbers are being used in a dishonest way.

Infact it would have been better if AT did NO reviews...instead of the USELESS single FPS digit.

And this is not about me...take it to pm or use ignore if you cannot understand this.

It is you who unfortunately understands nothing. If you lack basics sadly it is very hard to learn.

Please elaborate, before I report you post a useless ad hominem?

Dude I believe you have reported so many posts by now mods have probably put you on their ignore list

Now on a serious note

1.The result of FCAT analysis is also a number just like FPS.

2.Lets consider a example, setup A gets 10 fps on average but the frame time variance is smooth and setup B gets 40 fps on average but with erratic frame time variance. We have lot of options to smoothen the second setup but it is unplayable for the first. So yes FPS does matter.

Vsync fixes runt frames since there are no runt frames when the frames are synced with the refresh rate.

This is a fact.

You are wrong.
