New AMD Catalyst 11.2 drivers are available for Windows XP. Vista, and 7

This is the official AMD Catalyst 11.2 driver.

The AMD Catalyst™ software suite 11.2 contains the following:

AMD display driver version 8.821
HydraVision™ for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7
Southbridge/IXP Driver
AMD Catalyst™ Control Center version 8.821
The new Catalyst Control Center features

Catalyst AI Texture Filtering updates
The Quality setting has now been improved to match the High Quality setting in all respects but one; it enables an optimization that limits tri-linear anisotropic filtering to areas surrounding texture mipmap level transitions, while doing bilinear anisotropic filtering elsewhere. This optimization offers a way to improve filtering performance without visibly affecting image quality
The Performance setting has been updated to address the sharpness of the default Quality setting causing shimmering in certain cases. It now provides a smoother filtering option that eliminates most shimmering while preserving the improved detail provided by anisotropic filtering.
Tessellation Controls
Supported on the ATI Radeon HD 5000 Series and the AMD Radeon HD 6000 Series
New settings give users full control over the Tessellation levels used in applications.
The default selection “AMD Optimized” setting is intended to set the best level of Tessellation on a per application basis. The “AMD Optimized” setting is designed to help users get the maximum visual benefit of Tessellation, while minimizing the performance impact associated with enabling Tessellation. Currently no applications have been profiled.
The “Use Application Settings” option gives applications full control over the Tessellation level.
Users can also manually set the maximum tessellation level used by applications with the slider control
Morphological Anti-Aliasing support for the ATI Radeon HD 5000 Series
AMD Catalyst now includes official support for Morphological Anti-Aliasing for the ATI Radeon HD 5000 Series
Support Video Quality settings during Blu-ray 3D playback

Supported on the AMD Radeon HD 6000 Series
Requires Blu-ray 3D player software, 3D supported display and 3D Stereoscopic glasses
Users can now enable the Video Quality settings within the Catalyst Control Center when playing Blu-ray 3D content
Performance Improvements:

Call of Duty: Black Ops:
Performance increases up to 11% on ATI Radeon™ HD 5000 Series single card configurations with anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing enabled
Batman Arkham Asylum:
Performance increases up to 4% on ATI Radeon™ HD 5000 Series single configurations with anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing disabled.

Those are some interesting 'cool' sounding update, features.

Owners will have to test the tessellation level panel and tell us how it works. Try something like Heaven benchmark on extreme tessellation, leave that setting but turn it down in CCC panel and see the outcome ?
I didn't think it would be something that could be isolated outside the game. Considering some games do not even have a tessellation setting.

I was about to ask the same thing. I might go over to my brothers and try it on my old rig tommorow.

Dammit I just updated a couple weeks ago...

But it's cool to have steady driver releases.

Nice. Registers the proper driver version again and enables MLAA on my card.

So I don't get it. It fixes crashes under XP for Civ V running in CF, but no mention of the same in Win7? My BIL has been having problems with Civ V crashing when CF is enabled, he has two HD6870s.

I'll have to have him try these.

Improved IQ? nice...

Less Shimmering you say? nice

Hell yes! no more hacked drivers to get MLAA for 5xxx cards.

Performance Improvements:
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops:
    • Performance increases up to 11% on ATI Radeon™ HD 5000 Series single card configurations with anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing enabled
  • Batman Arkham Asylum:
    • Performance increases up to 4% on ATI Radeon™ HD 5000 Series single
    • configurations with anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing disabled.

Meh... okay I guess.

Still... THIS is a nice driver pack it seems.

Hopefully reviewers are honest with the "tesselation controls" settings.

Why is performance increased on a single card for Black Ops but not my setup? *scrathes head*

I bet alot of sites wont even change the setting. Just like the default image quality settings that give AMD a 7-8% head start.

Google it. I cant remember the exact site but you will get results. Anyways Im not sure they still do this. Im just hoping they are not gonna try pulling Nvidia's dirty driver setting tricks again. I used to refuse to buy Nvidia cards till AMD started getting just as dirty.

@Load81,

They went back to "before" IQ... so now there wont be a 7-8% gain in performance anymore.

Do we have to have this 7-8% discussion since it has no relavence anymore? and in a driver thread?
Also yes... 7-8%... vs nvidias gains of 4-5%.... end of the world to use AI settings (noticeable IQ loss for performance gains... end of the world.. even if nvidia does it too).

Installed just fine on my main PC and no issues when gaming with it (for the whole 20 min I was able to). Hopefully this will fix the problem with my second monitor occasionaly going blank when I start up a game. I alt-tab to desktop then back to the game and it's fixed. This has been the only problem I have been having with my 6970 so far.

I've been waiting for official support for MSAA for my 5770 to play Bioshock....And it's bugged. Oh well.

Has 11.2 fixed the mouse corruption/flicker in the systray area for anyone?

I remember reading there was a mouse lagging issue as well. I hope these things are fixed.
