New AMD Athlon 4 Release?

Hi Everyone. Ive been waiting for the new thunderbirds to be released ( i think its going to be called Athlon 4 when its released). Does anyone have any idea when this will happen or if it will happen any time soon with clock speeds of 1.33 and higher. Im not worried about the MP version. I heard that they have been released for labtops some time back but ive been delaying the purchase of a new mb and processor until then and would like to have an idea how long its going to take.

thanks

hrmm... lets clear some things up first...

Thunderbird = current Athlon
Palomino = Athlon 4 Desktop, Athlon 4 Notebook, Athlon MP.

So when you talk Athlon 4 remember its not Thunderbird. Ok, now that that's cleared up... 😉... No one knows for sure when they will be released but I'd guess (and this is off the top of my head) around mid September or so and at clockspeeds around 1.2 - 1.533GHz or so... maybe a bit higher. This could be a bit sooner but I dont really know for sure... if anyone else does, please post.

With the way AMD processor prices have dropped today (check out PriceWatch), there's a lot of specualtion that it's very soon. A 1.4 Ghz 266 T-Bird is going for $114 right now.

what am i better off doing? price is a huge factor here folks.
getting a epox 8k7a+1.4tbird now or waiting for
athlon4+nforce board
?
any guesses at the prices? i dont wanna spend much...

I would at least wait till the intel price cuts and see how AMD responds on the 26th

with AMD's flagship processor the 1.4 at 114 now i think Palomino is very near
