Well I read these forums at least a few minutes everyday when I am waiting for matlab to run a calculation or other various stuff in the lab, and I have never seen it. Several of my friends who I sent it to via email also had never seen it and they browse these forums and several others frequently. It obviously isn't as widespread as you would have me believe if none of the people I know have ever seen it. I'm in college too so that's saying something. I just asked everyone in the lab if they had ever seen that picture and I got 21:0 for No:Yes.
