new AIM ad-hack

any one use or try the new aim ad hack 5.0 beta?

it sucks, doesn't even get rid of ads (at least on my friends computer)

and on mine it just leaves the huge blank space where the ad would be

any body else have different luck?

also im having no luck at all sending files or initiating direct connections

people can send me files just fine and THEY can initiate direct IM's just fine

i've tried all sorts of port forwarding and fire wall changes with no luck, any one else have any ideas on that?

I got sick of those audio ads that you CANNOT turn off, and run gaim now. Only complaint is that I cant send files. The regular AIM client sends files fine though.

gaim doesnt have ads, and I dont really care about transfering files so I use gaim... (on a pc, if I'm on a mac.. Adium!)

no ads, no crap, and *most* of the sounds are gone.

I just add this to my 'hosts' file in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

I'm using Aim Hack 4.14 and it has never given me any problems

EDIT:Ad Hack 5.0B12 is for the new AIM version "Triton"

stick to 4.09 or 4.14 if you have previous versions.

gotcha, so im guessing ill have to reinstall the latest version of AIM 5 and find ad-hack 4.14 or 4. something?

I use trillian and am able to send files to anyone.

i use aim 5.2ish with deadaim and it works fine for everything (including direct connection and file transfer)

any ideas on the reason i can't initial direct connections or file transfers?

if the person on the other end initiates them they work like a charm

yeah, i downloaded it to see how it was and it was pretty bad. There were ads in the actual IM window...lol

Same here (except I think I'm on AIM 5.5.something...whatever the last version is that works with deadaim)

You can take out the ads yourself...just use reshack on the aim resource file and delete the space where the ads are. No sounds, no ads, and the space where the ads usually are is gone so you have more buddy window space...Plus you don't have to download some special hack or worry about viruses or keyloggers....
