'98 ducati 916. Too good of a deal to pass up and I've always thought the lines on those are timeless.

Nice bike! Always wanted a Ducati but the weight of heavier bikes intimidates me. I'm still learning in my 250 lol.

I thought Duck's were lightweight bikes? That one up there ^ tips the scales at maybe 490 pounds?

Not sure about weight of ducatis. My ninja 250 I think weighs about 390 with a full tank. Ive gotten used to it and it just manuevers so nicely. My friend's sv 650 twin v feels like a tank when just sitting idle with it.

My street triple r (3cyl 675cc) weighs in at 416# with a full tank...

Beautiful bike OP. I really like the 848 Evo...maybe one of these days

It's not so much the actual weight but the distribution of the weight. Bikes that are more top heavy can feel that way etc...

I want an 848 evo so bad but man they are just so expensive to maintain long term.

You are a day trader right? Damn maybe I should have done that instead of engineering.

I'm actually a professional trader, did engineering (cs) among other things in undergrad.

Actually I'm not all that loaded (sadly; dept of ed has been eating most of my liquid cash) , I just have a talent for buying stuff at a huge discount.

FFY 🙂 Nice looking bike, keep the rubber side down.

Damn! My V-Rod is near 700 pounds. I don't what I'm going to do on the day that pig falls over.

Yeh even when mine fell over cuz the kickstand is long and doesnt make the bike lean. Parked it in an unnoticibly eneven area and it fell as soon as I got off. Had to use both hands and middle weight to raise it up. I guess for heavier bikes you can use your back and legs.

Awesome! One of the guys I ride with has a 996 (successor to your bike) he put a 1098 motor in it. It's a freaking beast.

Oh, and for anyone thinking that bike is expensive the 916 was last manufactured in 1998 so the OP probably picked that bike up for $5-6k... maybe slightly more than that.

Far less than that incidentally. Honestly had no intention of picking one up, but the price was hard to pass up. They need to block me from craigslist.

Need to score some tbelts and valve adjustment tools when I get back from vacay.

Not surprised at all. A friend of mine picked up an ST3 with full bags for $1500 not too long ago. The owner was clipped by some clueless idiot and had a minor get off. Rashed it up pretty good and busted up the plastics. Guy I know ripped the plastics off it and is riding it naked with the bags. All he did was belts and a valve adjustment (which it needed desperately).

What's the service history on it?

Factory 6K service 10 years ago, fresh oil and new battery... but that's about it. It's got about 10K miles, so hopefully no flaking rocker arms. Timing belts are like 50 bucks on ebay, so def gonna do that asap.

Do as much you can on your own. Dealers tried to rip me off 500 to clean carbs and I never worked on a bike myself. Got a service manual and about 4 hours learning everything I spent maybe 20 bucks total in tools and carb cleaner. Pain in the ass piecing everything together though.
