Well there are some good cars, like the srt4, altima v6, etc. which are pretty fast, and you can even have some cars with solid handling with front wheel drive, but rwd IS nicer!

FWD just got owned.

There is a point where FWD is better, and there's a point when RWD is better. And in between is AWD.

Funny has people don't slam the ES330 for being FWD. Truth is, you can drive the TL like an ES330 and it'll be perfectly fine. However, if you drive it like you'd never drive a Lexus, then yes dynamically it gives up to the G35 and 3-series.

However IMO it fits a nice middle ground between the ES330 and the G35/3-series. Its more sporty and fun to drive than the ES330, and considerably more luxurious than the G35/3-series.

There's a difference. The ES330 is NOT a performance machine, nor does it claim to be. It's a luxo boat and it fits perfectly that way.

The TL tries to be all things to all people and tries to appeal to G35/330i buyers. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN. WRONG ANSWER!!!!!!

Lexus OTOH has a two pronged approach; RWD IS300 for sporting enthusiasts and FWD ES330 for luxo boat people. And it works (same for Infiniti G35/I35). The TL is too much of a compromise by trying to appeal to everyone.

Unfortunately very true 🙂 It still looks very nice and is amply powerful. Just a shame it's not rwd is all 🙂

Also, why was the fact that the TL got 0-60 in 5.7 seconds but dissed for torque steer and lacking in sport compared to it's RWD competition? What about it's 1/4 mile 14.4 @99MPH and Top speed of 152?

Shouldn't you be in the "Honda love-making" thread?😉

W00T for a slower car, with less options, and a higher price when optioned the same? Um, no.

how about a STFU for a b!tch not knowing that sports (sedan) is defined as RWD

Sorry, I meant my first reply to you. If that's the only thing you can find wrong with the car, then Acura has achieved everything they ever intended to do with this vehicle - make it one of the top contenders in it's class. It outguns or equals it's competitors in nearly every benchmark, the only thing that is holding it back is which wheels are pushing (or pulling) the vehicle. my original reply to you still holds true.

rbloedow, a car with FWD just isn't a sporty feeling car. I went from a 220hp Volvo 960 RWD to a 260hp Acura 3.2 TL Stype... Aside from maintenance and build quality (my god the maintenance on that volvo) the Volvo handled better, accelerated stronger, and just felt more secure to drive in. YOu could slide around corners with all the confidence in the world. And the seats were more comfortable too. Who the hell designed the Acura headrests? They're just like... points.... that stick you in the back of the head.

Anyways, for a true sporty ride, RWD is a must.

I don't deny that, but if you step back and look at the vehicle taking into consideration it's option, price tag, room, etc, the Acura is at the top of it's game. From an enthusiast perspective, RWD is essential, but from the perspective of nearly all of this vehicle's consumers, RWD is not a must.

give a d@mn about having a RWD or FWD for a car that will take them to work in rush hour traffic in most cases??

Believe it or not, most people buy cars that offer the most value for their money that can get them from point A to point B, be it FWD or RWD...not everyone focuses (sp??) on raw performance (like it seems everyone in these car threads does)...

If you live up North where there is snow and ice in the winter, FWD is better suited than RWD for those conditions since you have the engine weight providing more traction for the front tires...
