I have heard a few things and saw on Abit's site about the new Abit KG7-RAID. Soft Menu III, RAID (duh), and 4 dimm slots. Anyone know when this thing is coming out? I'm in the market for a DDR mobo and would like to know more about it etc (reviews, release dates).

Thanks

EDIT: I can't spel.

Ah, a thread after my own heart. The board is due to hit retailers by the end of this month. MSRP is a heady $194 (yeah, I barfed too! :Q) but others on this board have said that the price will drop down in-line with the other AMD chipset DDR boards. Around $150 or so.

Call it luck, call it optimism, call it the truth; I've had good luck w/Abit. I've said this one million (almost) times. My KT7R has been 101% on the money since the day I booted it up. If I buy a Brand X anything, and it's good, I'll buy Brand X again.

I purchased an Iwill KK266 for my GF's rig. Got Editor's choice and other accolades, that's why I bought it. AGP slot was DOA, now I"m having other stability probs as well. No more Iwill for me.

I will be going DDR before the end of 2001. Right now, it's B/T the Epox 8K7A+ and the Abit KG7R. We'll see what more reviewers have to say about the Abit.

MichaelD -

If Abit has worked fine for you and you want to stick with them that's fine. You need to remember you are buying the board for yourself and not everyone else, so get what fits your needs best. If that board is the KG7 than so be it..:)

Cool, my first and only board is a Abit BX6 rev 2 :) Great board, working flawlessly for over 2 years now and going to pass it down to my dad. I'm in the same boat as MichaelD, I'm looking at the EpoX and Abit DDR boards :)

Stupid question, but do you have to install the VIA 4 in 1's with DDR mobos based on the AMD761/VIA686B chipset?

Not a stupid question at all..very common actually. You should install the Via 4 in 1's with these boards with the exception of the AGP driver. You need the AGP miniport drivers from AMD. :)

Does anyone know if the KG7 will have a 1/5th PCI divider? On the HardOCP review they said it "allows unlimited FSB choices," but will I be running PCI insanely out of spec if I put it at 175?

If so than I'll most likely get it. If not than I'll just get a 8K7A.
