So far I've gotten:

10 x 255 ~ 2546 @ 1.7 volts according to cpu-z

2-2-2-5-10-16 @ 212.6 mhz

need to volt mod this board to get more out of it.

hoping to get at least 2.6 to 2.7 ghz :)

i'll post pics later!

links to benches at the bottom of the page!!! :)

It sounds as if you need to buy some PC3700, or faster. The Athlon64's still need to run the memory in syc with the proc.'s fsb, or you are losing alot of performance.

I hope you took some good benches on the P4 4.0ghz so we can see if a 2.5ghz which would be like a 3800+ or something compares.....We can see if the p4 scales as well as the A64 when boosted....

What is default vcore on these things??? Is 1.7v a bit high??? What kind of temps are you seeing and yes I know they will be low do to the prometia...

Please keep in mind that many people have fried their Athlon64s by raising voltages too high. There's a thread on it at xtremesystems as I recall. Be careful!

Nice. How much memory are you using? What stepping is that 3200+, still C0?
Post some pictures with more information.

Default is 1.5V. What stepping does yours say in CPU-Z, Shimmishim?

It takes 1.7V with no problem, the ones that got dead are primarily from the volt modding and fluctuations of the voltage. Some speculate on high memory voltage to be suspect. Whichever it is I don't think 1.7V is a problem with adequate cooling.

let me tell ya something... i REALLY hated the p4p800 that i didn't care about running tests on it...

the only thing i can tell you is that the a64 flies at default.

not that you care about 3dmock2k1 but it gave me 18.1k at 4 ghz

on the a64, i'm getting 17.9ish at 2.0 ghz and 19.1 at 2.54 ghz

the default is 1.5 volts so 1.7 isn't too bad.

and as for the deaths... yes, i've read over that thread and i'm making sure not to go overboard.

i'm keeping my vdimm voltage under 3.4 (at the moment only at 3.05) and i'm going to keep teh vcore under 1.75 and maybe try to see what speeds i can get up to 1.85 volts.

i'm having issues though with my video signal getting scrambled at 2.54 ghz. the board has an agp lock but the video gets all messed up even when running seti@home....

Very nice Shim! I was just looking over the bios options for your board and it looks like there is no adjustment for HTT/LTD voltage=bummer if that's the case. You can try overclocking the AGP a bit if you haven't already, to see if it helps with the video signal quality. Good luck and keep the data coming.

I made up my mind... i`ll order an a64 system... depending on your advices.

IS the shuttle a good board Shimmishim? (i live to oc) is it the best option? looking at the results you have it`s VERY impressive... and it looks like it`s not over yet!

(advice plz for an a64 mb) :)

No offense intended, but you should really start your own thread and not jack Shim's :)

Wow, prometia.:)

How about some air-cooling results with that cpu?

BTW the Shuttle board have PCI/AGP lock? Or are you just running you're AGP/PCI out of spec marginnally?

the shuttle supposedly has an agp lock but i dunno why my video signal gets scrambled when under load @ 2.54 ghz...

i dunno if it was released in the new bios or not but it does have LTD voltage adjustment from auto to 1.3 to 1.4 to 1.5

:)

from reviews, I see vdimm is 2.9 max in bios, and vcore is 1.7. Is there a bios rev. for the higher voltages, or did you mod the board??

Anyone want to explain to me how CPU/BUS/Memory Speeds work for the A64?

Lets say our memory is 166DDR, our effective bus would be 333Mhz x our CPU Multiplier. How does work with A64s? I know we dont really have a FSB, but we have Hyper Transport.

To the air-cooling crowd:

Shuttle AN50R rocks. Built a system for a homie and got 2.4GHz at 1.7v, not quite as impressive as Shimm's 2.5GHz at 1.7v, but hey, it's on air :). Air cooled with Zalman CNPS7000A-AlCu, temps in the upper 40's at load.

How high does Vdimm go??
