Given my experience with CVTs, I'd rather have anything else, aside from if I had a Minivan or something and just didn't care about how the vehicle felt. They always make me feel like my drivetrain is attached to a bunch of rubber bands. I've only experienced Nissan ones though.

I wonder if insurance will be higher as they use more aluminum. Remember the Acura NSX was like that. It's not that much more expensive to build it like that, but they are apparently not easy to repair.

You do have to go to a body shop who knows how to handle aluminum. People who have Audi A8's (Audi aluminum "space-frame") and Jaguar XJ's know this very well.

I only experienced it once with a B7 Audi diesel I got as a rental a few years back...it was horrid and gave me a horrible taste for CVT's. I really despise them based on that one sample. Granted, Audi may have just implemented it really poorly..but give me a properly engineered auto any day over a CVT.
