New 9700 Pro 128MB AGP for $137+shipping

I'm not sure if this is allowed, but it's a "Buy Now" from eBay, so no bidding. Great price for a card that is real close in performance to a $200 9800 Pro. Says in sealed retail box. Shipping is $14.99, but no tax.

PS. I don't know the seller and have never bought from him, just saw this while I was helping a friend shop for a card.

Usually Ebay stuff never is considered a true Hot Deal as it is one item only and there may be unknowns attached (card dropped or returned for warranty, etc). Plus with the 6600GTs coming out, prices of the 9800 line should fall in line. Thanks for the heads up though.

Sometimes small businesses use "buy now" auctions, they know they can get millions of potential buyers compared to trying to draw people to small websites.

Anyone looking in the sub $150 knows the lack of good options. The 5700 series is junk, the 5900XTs are $170+ and perform worse than the 9700 pro most of the time, especially in pixel shader heavy DX9 games. The 9600XTs are about the only good option but are four pixel pipe chips and get stomped by the 9700 pro. So this is not a bad deal until the 9800 pros drop, but people have been waiting for months for that to happen.

I've seen other Ebay Buy it now sales on these forums before such as the big firehouse sales that IBM did on their Thinkpads a few years ago.

plus there english leaves something to be desired.

"Our goods are with both excellent quality and very reasonable in price!
blow out on sell!
selling at low price with good quality !"

Just reminds me of those con guys that want to send you a cashiers check for 5 times what your asking price is and have you just send them like half back.

What's with the flood of HD newbie diamond members recently anyway? Nobody stops to think.....hmm, if auctions were allowed why aren't there like 1,000 Ebay posts already?

It's not an auction Einstein, you can't bid or be outbid. You know some people just use Ebay as a global store front?

I just thought of an yahoo auction for a new m6710 notebook for $780.00. It showed it supported the buyer guarantee yet the order was canceled because the seller couldn't except the payment. And here comes the response from the seller (who was listed as living in NJ btw).....

"i represent a small company in Romania and we trying to evolver outside of country..... For payment i will accept payment via Western Union because here it is the only service to receive money immediatly here in Romania..."

You see where this is going. I asked that he "....send item with mail first. If item is good, I send money order with lack of hesitant...." I got no response from the punk, I thought I was speaking his language... you know, Scammish. 😛

I think a hot deal would be a business where many of us can get a good price on an item. Ebay on the other hand most often times is a one shot for one of us.

You were saying something about 'their' english?

Anyways I have dealt with a ton of ebay companies...the common trend on the electronics discounters is their english is subpar many times, however; that doesn't invalidate a good deal. There are many huge corporations that use ebay to blow out their stale inventory or left overs from large-scale deployments.

This time of year you will find deals to be had as companies race to sell off inventory pre-end of year to avoid being taxed on it. With tight margins that tax can create a no-profit or 'sale at a loss' situation.

You really want to see this forum flooded with fixed price Ebay listings? Wouldn't BIN auctions with no bids or a reserve at the BIN price also meet your criteria for non-auciton since you also can't be outbid?

No links to auction sites

I BOLDED the operable words for you. Clearer now, Hawkings?

Personally if it was a hot deal I'd care less where it came from.

There are many so-called hot deals posted here that are usually a lot worse than you can do with this deal.

To me a 'hot deal' needs to be reliable. There are many e-bay sellers that for all intents and purposes are real businesses and have no intention on taking bids.

However, just like now though you'd have the spammers/idiots posting every Playstation 2 for $25 they saw as a BIN on ebay, ignoring the $150 shipping charge 🙂

it's a no-win situation.
