for winxp should i just go with the 97.92 whql driver, or is there another that offers better performance and/or features?

No, thats pretty much you best bet.
You can use the XTreme-G Version of the driver for improved IQ and Performance (slightly better that is 😉)

Also make sure to use driver cleaner pro and the tips in the xbit article on the 8800 cards to insure a nice smooth install of it.
 
v97.92 is working ok at this point in XP ... still a bit shaky in terms of holding custom IQ settings but its stable in all the games I'm currently playing & Pure-video hardware acceleration finally works in Power-DVD too.

 
ok, thanks for the suggestions.

installed using 97.92; now i'm gonna have to relearn a different cp and how to adjust all the dang settings... not sure on IQ comparisons, i need to do some tweaking, but framerate-wise i can now play R6 Vegas 😀
