What about it? It's not a game so I don't even care!

DX9 performance is very poor (Tomb Raider also) in FX line compared with ATI.
A game that nobody wants to play? You determine that DX9 performance for each card based on those two alone? LOL You made my day! 😛

That, HL2, 3dMark03.... yes I do rely on those.
Aquamark 3 uses very few DX9 features and Halo comes from XBox (Nvidia chip if you remenber). They are not good DX9 performance benches. That NVidias PS2.0 are weak have been proven a lot of times, and so it is DX9 performance. But you can do whatever you want if you trust in NVidia's magical drivers and it's +x00% performance gain promises.

fanboi much cindy? He said it rivals the 9800p, which i would believe in all non PS2.0 games.

For most games you wont be able to tell the difference between a R9700P, a R9800XT, an FX5900, or an FX5950U. You cant see the difference between 110 and 120fps. But it sure does look pretty on graphs.

However in PS2.0 heavy games the NVIDIA cards are still noticeably behind the upper radeons. I can't wait to hear the nV fanbois strike when the 9800xt gets killed by the 5900nu in doom 3

Yeah, you really cant tell the difference between 10 - 15 frames difference. And depending on refresh rate, vsync and frame rate it gets more complicated after 85fps.

I don't know why prices in canada and US are so different with exact same cards

a brand new 9800 non pro can be had for around the same price or cheaper than a 5900 non ultra if you can still get a hold of one ,where I'm at ,it's hard to find the 9800 non pro now

In canada a month ago a 9800 non pro was around $300-$330 canadian that's around $200-$220 US .Now a 5900 non ultra goes for around $350-$450 canadian here that's around $250-$330 US

the 9800 pro's price also just drop by over $100 canadian or over $50 US
right now I can get a 9800 pro here for $380-$395 Canadian that's $270-$290 US
while the cheapest 5900 ultra (depending on brand names)goes between $450-$650 here ,that's $350-$450 US

I find the nvidia's fx are so overpriced and ridiculiously slower than their competition in canada

don't buy a used 9700 pro try getting a new 9800 non pro or 9800 pro you will be set for now and the future weither your planning to play new directx 9 or older diretx 8 games you'll be happy.

but if your not planning to buy recent directx 9 and or future games or not planning to play games at all get nvidia's 5900 .

Everybody knows nvidia's fx series sucks big time, they need 2 pc slots ,they handle very poorly with directx 9 and future directx 9 games
especially when cranking up aa and af and image quality is lower than ati's

if you don't want to have to upgrade again soon when new games and future ones coming out that uses mainly directx9 ,then get ati 's 9X00 series ,do not get nvidia's fx line until they come out with a new generation card that actually beats ati without having to cheat to win

Where did you find non pros in Canada? All I could find was the pro...
gibhunter I would get the 9800 non pro just because ati doesn't cheat on their benchmarks. I know its not a big deal, but it annoys me that nvidia cheated so I went with ati.

I've got a 9800 (non Pro) that came out of a Dell machine after 3 months of instability and crashes that you can have cheap.

I now using a GAINWARD FX5900 128MB 8X AGP DDR GOLDEN SAMPLE $239 from MWAVE that runs smoothly.

It's your choice: an unstable ATI card that performs AA well, or an NVIDIA card and a stable system.

It annoys me that i have to worry about which games will stop working every time i update my ATi drivers. Lets look at the dogcrap on both sides of the fence please.

Half the people crying about cheating are just doing it now because they are retarded and dont understand the difference between a cheat and an optimization. If the IQ doesnt decrease and the speed increases its an optimization. If the IQ is changed (reduced) and the performance increases that is a cheat.
