If you guys don't want the 4g version Amazon is selling the 15gb 3rd gen for 249.99. That applies for the $50 GC. Brand new 3g 15gig comes to like $220 after tax and shipping. Not a bad deal.

Oh yeah....according to my brother, amazon says the $50 GC is based on order date, not ship date. GC will be sent around mid-sept. I think. Anyways mine shipped today.

The $50 GC is based on order date, as long as you order it before august you will receive it. You can order the new 20gb ipod here. Don't believe the shipping status, I ordered mine and it shipped two days later, it will arrive Monday from Mesquite, Texas.

abaez I don't know where you live but for most amazon charges no tax or shipping charges. The old 15gb 3g can be had for $200 AGC.

You don't have to be a student to get the education discount. I bought my 2Gen 10GB Ipod a couple years ago from their website by just clicking through the Education tab. No verification whatsoever unless they have changed something....

If you buy it in-store, they ask for a student ID and if you buy it online, they'll ask you to send a copy of your schedule for the upcoming year.

ironcrotch - That's a ridiculous statement. I hope that you're not spending "thousands on tuition" just so that you can get an ipod for $30 cheaper.

I never said I was abusing the system smart guy. :roll: I was a college student when I made the purchase and I still continue to take classes from time to time, I was just pointing out that they did not require any proof whatsoever when I had purchased mine online.

I emailed Amazon customer service about the recent price drop, and 10 mins later a customer service rep emailed back say I can get price protection on this order because the order was recently placed!!!

Final price $284 - $50 GC!!!!
