3M TIM Tape

Has anyone seen or used this stuff yet? I read a short piece in the latest Design News issue and it looked pretty good. Opinions?

It's performance is fairly typical of adhesive tape - certainly nothing special (apart from the ultra-thin 9882 tape). Even so, none of the tapes even get close to the performance of a heatsink attached with thermal epoxy or a cliped on heatsink with phase-change thermal compoound.

Simply put, it's nowhere near good enough to attach a heatsink to an Athlon, but should be fine for ramsinks and stuff.

The thermal conductivity of the 9892FR (40.0 mil) is a little better than the 9885 (frag tape). I guess that's pretty good considering how much thicker it is.
But it's still nowhere near the Thermattach T412 @ 1.4 that I've got sitting here. :p

BTW... What are you doing looking at "tapes"... you're an "epoxy" man? :D
