did you mean overclocked? If you actually unlocked it how did you do since I will be getting one for my kids machine next week.

I just ran my very first 3DMark03 ever: 5076

I guess that's not bad. I only did it to see if I would get any artifacting or speckles but it was ok.

Asus P4B266-C 1.7Ghz williamette
512 DDR RAM
R9800np 382/315

3D MARK 2001 SE is more of a system bench than a video bench. Since you running at 3.6GHZ the score tends to be higher. What you get on 3D mark 2003? That is more a video card only test.

I got 14771 on my RADEON 9500 PRO overclocked to 380/300 !!!! 3DMARK2001 SE
fill rate: single 1117.1 MTexels/s
multi 2924.3 MTexels/s

I think I can get more if I push the core to 390mhz I'm only using stock cooling on the card thinking of using peltier cooling on it to push the core to 400mhz+

Athlon XP 1700+ @ 2300Mhz 1.75V (200x11.5)
NF7-S V.2
Corsair XMS3200LL @ 400Mhz CL 2-2-3-6 2.6v

He might have meant that he flashed the bios to that of a 9700 Pro which would somewhat be considered as "unlocking" it. You are running the hardware faster than it was meant to be, so therefore you are overclocking it, but you aren't using a simple software application to do it, the card will run at Pro speeds no matter what system you plug it into, as long as it can run at those speeds which is usually a safe bet to assume it will.

Actually i wouldnt call is overclocking since my board was the ones that ATI underclocked and locked. Baically to satisfy the non pro market, ATI had a lot of pro's already made. Rather than remake non pros, they underclocked some exisiting pro's and locked the bios at nonpro speeds. In essance originally before they shipped them out my card was made as a pro. Now that its flashed back to its pro speed, i can oc from there. Watch out for the mem though. I was lucky to get the samsung 2.86ns mem which is what the pro's have. After they were able to produce non pros, they stopped underclocking existing pro's and started manufacturing non pro's with slower mem

Yeah, lucky me. I got one of the "new" ones with Infineon memory, lol

But hey, don't be decieved. The 9800np is a great card regardless the memory brand.

My 9700 pro is at 351/331 now. Haven't tried higher. Your 3d mark 2003 blew mine out of the water.
