new 3870 won't run 3dmark06 under xp or vista...

seems a little odd... try to start the program, the first little screen comes up, then it just sits there using .5 of my cpu and never proceeds...

any ideas? tried this in an amd 939 system and a x2 system... very odd...

My 3870 Rig makes it to the final screen & freezes. I don't know what the problem is, but it won't complete the process either.

try perhaps the 8.6beta from guru3d.com: http://downloads.guru3d.com/
for the x2 system, if it was on xp, make sure to have the dual core patches applied.

anyways, maybe you have been blessed so that you wont be wasting your time running 3dmark06.

Do a Yahoo search for PCMark05 Hotfix and you'll find it. I ran into this earlier in the year. PCMark05 and 3DMark06 have problems and hang on hardware detection in newer systems. The Hotfix allows the new hardware to be detected with no lockups.
