I might would agree, but the way it's been marketed so far, it seems like they're targeting pretty similar demographics.
I thought that would be the case, but there's a lot of hype for the Kawasaki when it's really nothing terribly special and its supercharger actually seems to not be a positive in that it added weight and complexity compared to what they could have achieved so it's actually working against it in this situation. If this was more of a large grand tourer (or something like the GoldWing) I could understand it more. But is its powerband even actually better than the Ducati's. Or if this was some sub $20k new wonderbike, I'd get it. But instead it's like Kawasaki just went out of their way to make a more expensive bike for little good reason (they could have achieved similar results through other means that wouldn't have cost as much) and then were able to get it hyped like crazy. Maybe this is just the start and they're ushering in major changes and this just the platform for it, but I can't really understand the hype over it.
I think what we are going to see is nice beefy midrange over the 1299\Yammer while still maintaining a nice top end hit. Peeky vs grab a throttle anywhere and take off.
The initial marketing on the track only version highlights that it's more than just a drag bike.
Either way, I'm looking forward to see these bikes in the hands of reviewers.
Right now all anyone has are basic specs so its hard not to get caught up in a "brah-spec" comparo thing.
The price they are charging definitely seems to be pointing to the "Oops...you just doomed sales" mark.
However, if someone wants the best streetbike money can buy definitely going to be a good year with a lot of interesting choices.
