New 200gb HDD

I just got a new 200gb WD hard drive. I currently have a 60gb maxtor and a 200gb WD installed. The 60gb has my OS, games, on it. Is there a way I can transfer all the files on the 60 to the new 200 and use the new 200 to boot from? Thanks

The website of the manufacturer of the hd will have a utility for this you can download and use free

Use a program called Acronis True Image, I found it to be the best.
It is not free. I've used it for years. They've been having a lot of problems lately with sata, drivers, poor support etc.
Besides it's not 100% reliable.
Use the manufacturers free program, After that you can play with imaging progs etc.

Thanks guys

Just one more question. If I partition this drive say 20gb just for the OS, then install games, programs on the remainder of the drive. If I was to reformat the 20gb with the OS, would all the programs still work once I re-installed the OS?

No. Most programs can't work if their registry settings are gone. I'd personally use two physical hard disks and install my OS and all my programs on one, and use the other hard disk for storage of archive type files, like documents, mp3s, videos, et cetera.

coejus, right now I have a 200gb that I have all my video, mp3, documents stored on. I just didn't want to have to reinstall my games, and programs if I had to reformat windows due to a viruse or something. I thought if i was on a different portion than my games and programs I wouldn't have to.

thanks LED. I'll give it a shot. I won't be changing the drives until later on this week so I have sometime to figure out how i'm going to do this.
