WTF is up with the wavy string of lights under the front projectors?

It's got a case of BMW butt.

Interior doesn't flow real well, especially the big scoop around the right hand of dash controls.

That wavy string of lights are LEDs. The R8 has them too.

The R8-style jeweling in the headlights looks sharp. The character lines flowing up the side rocker panel looks good too.

Nothing special though, and very conservative. For whatever reason, Audi seems deathly afraid of redesigning the A4.

It's their bread and butter volume seller. It was the car that really turned the brand around and actually sold measurable amounts. I can understand being gunshy about altering that.

I think it looks great. Audi has the best exterior designers in the business. Everything they've been putting out recently has been really sexy.

Reminds me way too much of the A5. I think it's getting a little too similar.

And best interior designers too!

I like it...but I was hoping for even more of a nod towards the R8/TT front design.

The back may be a little too much Passat for me.

I think the front end looks gorgeous, but I don't like the line from the corner of the headlight to the rear. Not really digging the rear end either...can't wait to see what the S and RS variants look like. *droooool*

Contrary to what others have said, I actually prefer the new rear treatment to the rounded off design of the early 2000 models or the more blocked-off design of the last generation. Sure, it's got a bit of BMW 3-series DNA in it, but I don't think that it's bad looking by any means.

The front with the R8 LEDs looks very sophisticated and a bit more sporty with the different intake setup. Again, it looks like Audi have taken a bit of BMW's styling cues and integrated them into the front-end design of the A4 (compare the lower side intakes with those on the new 3 series).

In general, the lines seem to flow pretty well IMO and the car looks pretty nice.

the character lines in the side look a lot like what merc is putting on the CL and CLS. headlights look a bit squinty to me. rear is kinda meh. better than 3 series sedan but not as nice as 3 series coupe/IS/G

the inside looks like a step back.

This rear shot ain't bad at all.

Audi says that while the new car is physically bigger than before, the unit body weighs almost 10 percent less thanks to the use of steel components that are tailored in thickness to their specific location. As a result, the base-model A4 with its turbocharged four-cylinder engine weighs 3,109 pounds, just 44 pounds more than its predecessor.

Though the body engineering might represent a new departure, the exterior design couldn't be more familiar. It carries all the customary Audi design cues and there are clear visual hints of the A5 coupe ? in fact, from certain angles you'd be hard-pressed to tell the two apart.

The options list is lengthy, with Audi's MMI (Multi Media Interface) coming in combination with satellite navigation, a powerful 505-watt Bang & Olufsen sound system with MP3 compatibility and Bluetooth function for your mobile telephone.

Audi tells us this new A4 is dramatically more engaging to drive, and indeed is the sportiest car in its class. In other words, Audi expects it to usurp the 3 Series as the driver's choice.

Introduced by the A5, Audi's all-wheel-drive system has been recalibrated from the company's traditional 50 percent front/50 percent rear torque split to send 60 percent of the power to the rear wheels in cruising conditions.

I'm not really impressed and I love Audi and the previous A4. The front headlamps are not that great in my mind, too cluttered and too "flat" for lack of a better word. The rest of the front I like. Not thrilled with the back either, too A5 like, and I didn't like the A5 rear either.

In a similar vein I don't like the front foglights on the new A8, everything else looks good though. Thats enough for both the A4 and A8 to prevent me from buying, which is actually a good thing, as the used current gen will be so much cheaper :)

i like it. the only thing i don't like about some 6-speed cars (this included) is that you have to push in to go into reverse instead of away...we can't have everything though :p

despite the "subtle" difference, i much prefer the current gen.

the headlight looks too rectangular now, compare to the current "curvy/swoopy" one; and the rear lights shrunk just a bit too much.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the butt is the BMW 1-series coupe that is coming over here. Otherwise, I like new A4. Sounds like they made a lot of good changes based on the preview on edmunds. While the interior doesn't look as nice as the upcoming CTS...I still think it looks nice and I'm sure it will be a nice place to sit.

Yeah, good luck with that. Hell, the 335i is faster than an S4.

the front from an R8, doors from a TT, and rear from a A5. All in all a winning combination. I really like it. Audis keep on getting sleeker and sleeker
