Personally I would never use this with somemone I was just dating, at least not on the first date. A tip for those bachelors out there, try paying for your meal away from the table and your date, this way your date doesn't know exactly how much you ended up paying. Also this way you don't trouble your date with the financial issues of your date. (Unless of course you want her to know you are a big spender). Try arranging with your waiter to pay in advance by leaving your credit card with a set percentage tip or by sneaking off to the bathroom and catching your waiter away from the table. Just my two cents. Works well too whenever you go out with relatives and everyone fights over paying the bill. Just play dumb and no one will know, except of course the waiter.

Fortunatelly for me, I have a long standing relationship and a girlfriend who understands that with these coupons, I can take her out even more. Not to mention it's nice to go to somewhere new and different that you wouldn't normally go. As a matter of fact, she was the one who recommended me to buy it for this year!!! For those in the Los Angeles area, I recommend you buy the LA/S. Bay Books asap, it gets sold out pretty quick.

Are these really a good deal?

And what types of "deals" are in them?

Never bought anything like this before, so I would like to know what I might get myself into. :)

Thanks,

Wade

I bought three of these books. They are awesome!!! It might sound silly to actually buy coupon books, but there are so many deals that you end up saving at least a $100. I was so pissed that I didn't order these awhile back when they were offering it for $5 with free shipping!!! I guess this $5 will cover shipping for this order. I think if you go through ebates, they credit $2 back.

Mine is $25 - $5 code - $2 = $18~

I always wanted to ask, what goes through the mind of a restaurant worker when they receive one of these coupons? Most restaurants I've brought coupons to don't seem to have a problem, but there were a couple which I kinda wondered.

Well, if you eat out alot and you have a companion that you eat with, this maybe a good deal for you. Most of the coupons are 2 entrees for the price of 1 deal. The maximum price of the free entree will range depending on the restaurant you go to. For the most part, most restaurants will set the maximum at the same price as their most expensive entree. The book will contain coupons for restaurants of all categories from upscale to fast food, all of which I've used. The best thing to do is to visit the entertainment web page and find out what restaurants they offer discounts in your area.

I work at one of the restaurants that offer these coupons....it is not annoying if the customer tells the server if they have the card before they get the check. Most are worried that since the tab will be lower, people might tip the after coupon amount. It is extremely annoying when we are busy and we bring the check and someone goes, "oh by the way, i have this card/coupon"

Thanks for your input. There were a few times I failed to mention to the server that I was using a coupon but they didn't seem to mind it much, perhaps it wasn't a busy day. As for tipping, I normally tip the pre-coupon amount as mentioned in the book on each of the formal dining pages. It is rare though that I will tip 20% because for me, that really calls for excellent service which I don't always get. It seems to me that whenever there is a special ocassion, Valentines or Mother's Day, that service improves dramatically and calls for a 20% tip. My tipping range normally sits between 10%-15% dependent on quality of service. Is 10% really too low?
