Why is the screen shiny? Who came up with this stupid shiny screen trend, anyway? Woohoo, more glare, awesome.

I have a glossy screen on my Z63a and on my previous two laptops and I love it. Much greater screen clarity and colors are much more vibrant. Standard screens look washed out to me now.

So what's the general consensus on this then? I might be in the market for a new laptop soon and would like to try out one of the new apple's...however the weak integrated video along with a single button touchpad turns me off.

Well you aren't going to be playing many games, so the integrated video shouldn't be too big of a deal. I am used to the single mouse and can easily go between OSX and Windows, I do this everyday.

Yeah, integrated stinks, but as long as you're not gaming it's fine. It even plays HD well (up to 1080). I hate touchpads anyway and always carry a mouse. I'll have to see one in person before making a decision, but I definately think I'm going for one.

Hah, nice timing!

i want it so bad...BTW RossMan, it outputs a dual-link dvi signal. therefor, even though it has integerated graphics, it shoul be able to run you monitor.

Yeah I don't see myself doing any gaming on the thing...but it's a nice feeling I know I could if I wanted to. I could also see myself using it as a workhorse using bootcamp/XP (or vista) to do a lot of web development on while on the road.

Yeah those are basically my gripes about 😛. I'm not in the market for a laptop though...

My Asus Z63a has integrated graphics. At first, I thought I was going to hate not being able to play games. Now after having the lappy for a while, I haven't missed gaming at all.

That being said, I wonder if this will even be able to run Vista Aero Glass with only 64MB of RAM allocated...

Um, it outputs a DVI signal, not dual-link DVI.

Yeah true that. I have a sony vaio laptop i'm using right now that's a few years old and its got a radeon mobile with 128MB and can easily play some oldschool Q3 or UT maxed with no slowdowns. And if the mac can't even do that i'd feel like i was downgrading.

WOOT. The Apple Store in Durham, NC have them in stock!! I've gotta run and take my friends to the airport in a few minutes and the store is about 10 mins from the Airport. I may just come back with one (they're holding a 1.83GHz model for me until the store closes) 😀

I'm not a big gamer either, but Doom3 runs pretty fine on my mac mini. games run very smoothly on the windows partition too. but i guess if i still was a hardcore gamer i'd want a better video card

I bought my MBP from there, very quick and painless. I may run into you since I was planning on taking a look at them this evening after work. 🙂

The ibm lenvo x60 is much better IMHO, and it has a whooping 10 hours of battery Life. About time a portable with enough lasting power to get something done.

this one has only 6 hours lasting time. In the real world, that is 3.

For some reason, black on an Apple product just doesn't seem right to me. Probably the same reason why I have a white iPod.

First person I've seen that agrees with me.

isn't that only with the extra battery replacing the dvd drive?

I can't believe Apple is not offering better graphic solution for MacBooks. Higher end should have ATI X1600 64MB at least.

The black version should come with:

80GB HD
1GB Ram
ATI X1600 64MB (since 15" MacBook Pro has 128MB) or have an option to upgrade to 128MB.

Extra 20gb and black for $200? :|

I might just consider the white one for 1099.
