I would sell it and buy the New "05" Mustang GT, 300 hp for 25K :D

Last I remember our good buddy Steve here works for Ford :)

Rip it open, stroke it till it gets nice and big, put some big rods in there, and top it off with some a shot of juice.

And add a Procharger :D
It's not Steve. The '05 Mustang should be available within the next thirty days.

Rage, didn't your dealership just get a Red Mustang GT?

Steve = compuwiz1, not you. What is your name anyway? And if by Rage you mean me, I don't work for Ford - those were some pics I found off SVTperformance.com

Hahaha your pansy ass bought an automatic.

Rumble indeed. Rumble rumble slush rumble slush rumble rumble slush.

there is a reason that drag cars are automatic.
Yep, Top Fuel dragsters are fastest on automatic transmissions. :D

Auto's are faster on the drag strip :p

Also I'll put the shift of my auto up aginat anyone on there forums

If I take out torque Management and up my line pressure my truck breaks the tires loose at 3000rpm, it's so firm and fast it feels like it's going to rip the tranny right off it's mounts.

there is a reason why drag-racers use autos...it's called CONSISTANCY. that has nothing to do with speed for all you douche bags. an 8 second car revs so quick you wouldn't be able to hit half the shifts...

i say trade it in and get a new gto though ;]

uhh, because the auto's shift so fast they have a lower ET, and due to chattering in the TCC's there is a cost of MPH, but lower ET = faster 1/4 mile

I don't talk it I have done it for years.

Nice car you got, now where are the pics!?!?

Judging from your profile, you got it from Suburban Ford.
So how is Blake these days? David still the GM?

Freejack2, yes you have it all correct. Dave Lang is still the GM and Blake is fine, but he at our toyota store. Of course I bought it at Suburban Ford. I'm a manager there, so if I didn't buy it there, all hell would break loose! :Q

The issue of manual vs. automatic exploits itself in reaction time. It is humanly impossible to win a quarter mile race with a stick, although I don't discount them for other types of driving. I mean same HP, same car, stick vs. AT. Humans are not consistant enough to pull it off.

I'd have loved to have the Cobra, but as I said, I don't want the Cobra payment right now, and over time, I will make this car much more than the out of box Cobra would ever be. Make sense?

Pics? Go to Ford.com and look at Mustang GT in black. Nothing missed yet, as it's stock. :)

I can't believe you spent money on a mustang and actually believe that...surely I don't need to bring up links showing that your mustang is faster to the 1/4 in stick than auto? Drag racers benefit heavily from an automatic transmission, but your car is not a drag racer. Time and time again it's proven that almost all street cars are faster to accelerate with a manual transmission. This isn't opinion, it's fact. Grab a magazine and find out the stock times for your car if you don't believe me :p

Have you read the entire thread? He's planning on making it into a drag queen - his intent isn't the usual bolt on's

Laust's comment is highly applicable in this regard: You cried at the sight of the Cobra but you want to spend the $$$$$ to pro street a GT? . Considernig that if he mods it to a high degree he'll need a new tranny in the first place, well then he's just thrown away a new automatic instead of throwing away a new manual (conversion costs notwithstanding).

Is it a premium or a base GT?

A premium, leather, bullitt wheels, etc. ...oh and the Mach 460, not the Mach 1000. I have a feeling I will need all the trunk later on. Things like fuel cell, bottles...come to mind. ;)

I think those wheelie bars that give off sparks after dark are kinda cool too. :Q

i think i'd sell it and buy a car that doesn't use prehistoric suspension technology. but that's just me, i like to turn that wheel thing that's in front of me when i sit in the driver's seat.

can't argue that kinda muscle on the strip, though. :)

Depends on the use and how much power he's really gonna put under the hood, ALL the renegade guys that compte use Auto's for a reason, but they also have some serious power, when you see a car with a D3 on it, you know it's serious $h!t

300HP ~ and under, go with a manual, but when you play with the big kids, get into a built Auto, they can handle gobs of power, give a consistant ET and dispite what the kids say, you still have your meat and 2 veggies when your done :p

UMMMMMMMMM you know the '03 Cobra has a forged bottom end and iron block right? not to mention the heads that need no modification on cars that are making 700+ rwhp right? Thats a $10K adavantage over almost every car out there. $4K for a Whipple + install = 130mph traps.

Figure out what it'll cost to get a GT there. you'll be surprised. The '03 Cobra is our Grand National and the domestic equivelant of the Supra. You can even get used ones for $25K now.

It'll be fun when I can get the quarter done in mid 8'S :)

yeah right, good luck getting a 4.6 GT to do mid 8s without pushing it off a cliff.

Fine then, obviously this Pony is not bread right, so I'll give it to the wife, then figure out what to get me. ;) Actually, what might be a good thing to do is to look for someone who has already spent too much on their project , gotten tired of it, needs the money, etc.

Yep, hard part blocks are the way to go, it's the advantage of the Lightning engine over the HD edition.

So you like the Whipple's on the Stangs huh? I like it on my truck for all the torque, seems like many of the KB guys I saw were just going up in smoke, but thats been a few years. I know in the trucks for best tuning we have to just program our own PCM's

The scary thing about other people's aftermarket is knowing if they did it right.

Hmm if you want a cheap and easy $35 mod, get a K&N air filter. They allow more air to flow through which means a little more performance or gas mileage. I imagine you've heard of these though.
