HOMESTEAD, Pa. Nov 10, 2005 â?? The new 50 Cent movie "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" has been pulled from a theater where a man was fatally shot even though officials said Thursday they do not know whether the film was a factor in the slaying.

Loews Corp. decided to stop showing the rapper's bullet-ridden bio while the investigation is going on, said John McCauley, the company's vice president of marketing.

He said the company is doing all it can to make sure patrons are safe at the 22-screen multiplex in a popular entertainment-and-shopping complex just east of Pittsburgh.

Shelton Flowers, 30, had just watched the rapper's movie Wednesday when he got into a confrontation with three men in the bathroom. A fight ensued and spilled out into the concessions area, where Flowers was shot, police said.

Authorities were looking for witnesses, and no suspects were immediately arrested.

Were they arguing over over how stupid the movie was or how bad Fitty acted?

What idiocy. The movie did not cause the shootings, the shootings caused the movie.

When you play a movie that depicts that sort of lifestyle and culture, you're going to get people who live that lifestyle and culture watching it.

Anyone see the Showbiz Show with David Spade last night on Comedy Central? Wasn't that good, but the one thing that made me laugh was that they had a reporter at the premier of this movie. As Fiddy walked by the guy shoved the mic in his face and asked him if he cared that his movie was a total ripoff of 8 Mile.

Fiddy got pissed.....

that whole statement doesnt make any sense if you think about it..... Eminem and 50 both rappers.....so a story about there life is going to include how they became rappers.....seeems pretty obvious to me. Its not like 8 mile came out and then 50 deicded to become a rapper and then make a movie about it......not to meniton life in detroit != NYC

There were also other incidents in theatres that have not made national news.

wow ... that is the most ridiculous thing i have ever seen ...

i swear people always have to find something to throw the blame at. it's just pathetic. why don't they pull the show "The Shield" off the air then, since you know, it has people getting shot every single weak, sometimes dealing with gangs. Or how bout "The Sopranos" or "The Wire" ... why dont they pull these off the air the minute someone gets shot?

gimmie a fvcking break ... pathetic.

Because the people watching the Sopranos are not mobsters.

It is a little different when it happens inside a theatre complex.

The comany has to be concerned for the welfare of all their patrons.

Personally, if I was the theater manager, I'd pull the film too. Not because the movie directly caused the shooting but of the crowd that this movie apparently draws.

Edit: I'm now waiting for gigapet to call me a racist and a "hater"

them black people always gotta be fightin

On the more serious note, they could just rent metal detectors and have the customers check in their coats and pieces at the door :)

right but the point is the film would never have gotten made had 8 mile not been made and a moderate success to begin with. thats just how hollywood works.

i dont think they are the same movie but remember that aesthetic differences does not mean the stories are not the same. star wars trilogy doesnt look a whole lot like henry iv 1 +2, henry v but it can and has been argued they are the same.
polti suggests that there are only 36 (maybe 37) plots in the whole of story-telling and while it can be broken down to simply 2 stories, i think he brings out the most detail and yet the most diverse.

This will only be positive press for the movie. It will make more "Wanna-be thugs" go see it.

that's really all that will go to see it anyway.

Courtesy post. My GF wants the following to be said:

"All movies about rappers, aside from the one Chris Rock was in, suck royal ass and should never be played in actual theatres and I wish that Fifty Cent's shooter had done a better job of shooting him in the head!"
