I am looking to get this game, and from all the reviews I've read it seems really good. The only thing that the reviews knocked was that it was buggy. Have they properly fixed the bugs in the two years since launch?

the only bugs i've encountered were minor, non game-breaking ones. i've played through 3 times now i think? you shouldn't be worried about bugs, IMO.

The game is much, much improved now since launch. You should get the game when they bundle it with Mask of the Betrayer and Storm of Zehir. Unless well...you can snag the original game and the expansion for $10 each (I did at Target)

overall there arent really that many problems now...kinda get annoyed at the camera angles sometimes but still a good game.

Any idea when that'll be? I Direct 2 Drive' NWN2 and I want to get both expansions but I would rather just get an overall bundle. How long does it usually take for that to happen?

The Gold Edition came out 7 months after MotB.

So...

I'm guess it's going to be quite awhile :)

I was skeptical when I first bought NWN2 and I really disliked it when I played through the first act. The game started to get far better after act 2 or so and overall it's a good game.

I will be buying the Mask of the Betrayer expansion soon.

I know what you mean. Once they came out with Mask of the Betrayer, they jacked the camera angle all up. It was fine before, but they felt the need to change it to make it more of a normal isometric view. Then I couldn't look up hills anymore, which made the original campaign a pain in spots.

I liked the game enought to play it through twice, but that was really more because I had an older computer that wouldn't run newer games very well, so I didn't buy them. It is a nice game, with better story and character control than the original (although the quick key setup isn't nearly as nice).

ugh figures...might just buy each expansion seperate...

i really liked NWN1 but I thought they didnt really make the game better with #2. Its still a good game but they could have made it better.

the story wasnt as strong as #1 and didnt really have any twists and shocking moments like #1 did or RPGs usually have. And the whole stronghold thing was cool to do but it seemed really time consuming

played this game and had alot of fun with it. The character interactions had me
laughing quite a few times. (the banter btwn your party members)

the female demon(thief) got into it with a few of the other characters. funny to see.
she even got a bit jealous when i invited a 2nd female into group(druid i think she was)

the only thing i did not like was i could not go into first person view. And the point and clik
way you have to move around gets annoying at times.

Other than that did not run across any bugs or game play issues.

Can't wait to play it! My wife came home from work last night and dropped it on my lap. I guess I dropped enough hints about wanting the game... :D

Wrong. You can do anything with the new camera that you could with the old camera. They just changed the defaults and the way you switch between the views.

No you can't. Try looking up at the ceiling now. Try looking up the mountain where the fire giants are. It isn't an option anymore. Probably so they don't have to render ceiling tiles anymore.

You can do both. The camera become more adjustable after MotB though the defaults changed.

The Witcher uses the Aurora Engine used in NWN1, Bioware's 2007 edition. NWN2 uses the Electron Engine, a heavily modified version of Aurora, but technically a different engine.

You guys had better luck then me. I'll admit I haven't loaded it up and updated it in quite a while, I would hope by now all of the bugs are fixed. But the game was plain broken for me. Quests would not complete, sometimes I'd get the same conversations over and over that would add a quest, when this happened multiple copies of that NPC would appear. I don't recall the game ever out right crashing, but I ran into several show-stopper bugs that would frustrate me and I'd just stop playing. Maybe I'll try again, I'm sure there have been a lot of patches since I last played.

here is a bit of the dialog that i found funny

ran into 2 sailors in a town

"Sailor well, now, what's all this? A traveling circus?
sailor#2 Easy, one of them's a Harborman
sailor Harborman? Like i care what a swamp farmer can do.
Seems to me there's the makings of a joke in you four...a dwarf, tree-worshipper, demon, and a swamp-smelling Harborman walk into a tavern....

Khelgar(dwarf) Well, now, we may have walked in, but seems to me someone's about to go flying out.
Morlok Borlock(me) we're not here for a fight
Khelgar We're not?

Khelgar Did you hear what he called you? He might as well have asked us to break his legs right then!
Elanee(druid) Our leader's right. We dont need the attention a fight will bring... and there's no reason to fight at all

Khelgar(dwarf) No reason to fight? Are you mad? Of course there is!
Sailor Aye, of course there is! The dwarf has it right!
Khelgar You be quiet!! Agree with me again, and I'll knock your teeth out!!
Sailor All right, all right!! I was just saying i agr-

Khelgar That does it!! I warned you once, and now you're going to get it!!
Elanee(druid) How often does this happen? (she is commenting on the dwarf)
Neeshka(demon-rogue) Trust me, things were slowing down a bit before we came here...
now it's about back to normal.

(sailors attack - we win)
Khelgar Now then, that was a fine bit of sport, wasn't it?
morlok It turned out all right, i admit
Khelgar Of course it did! We make a good fighting team!
Neeshka We didn't need to fight, Khelgar. Next time, rein it in, it's hard to steal from someone when they think you're going to attack them.

Elanee If we're done making more enemies, lets move on.
Morlok I agree, lets go
Khelgar Fine. I say we try to find another tavern...there's bound to be more drunks needing a punch or two.

Good 'ol Khelgar, how you remind me of HK-47 so much...

Ahaha, I remember that. Sadly my save got corrupted somewhere before the end of Act II and I never finished.

Guess I should try to find MotB for cheap as well as Zehir and get around to playing the whole thing again.

Gonna necro this 'cause a post in another thread got me playing NWN2 OC again.

Playing as a Human Bard 16/12/14/14/8/14 with the Natural Leader background. (-1 to my saves for +1 to ally AB)
Curse Song and Luck of Heroes.
Level 2 took a level of Fighter for the free martial weapon/heavy armor feats, and grabbed Weapon Focus: Greatsword. Awwww, yeah... heavy melee Bard!

Now at level 5, picked up Elanee (swapped in a boar for her default badger since something about the badger AI/model makes it retarded. The badger is also useless). About to go back for the Bandit camp after I clear out the Maiden's Glade.

PC, buffed with Extended Bull's Strength and Flame Weapon:
unledvkk.jpg

I love buffing Khelgar to hell and back:
unledovf.jpg

Weapon Focus, Heroism, Bull's Strength, Bard inspiration, and Natural Leader effect on a Flame weapon'ed (and inspired) vanilla greatsword.
Great Cleave... surprisingly useful!

Next level he gets 2 attacks/round!

In reference to the issue of stability, WHICH IS WHAT THIS THREAD WAS ABOUT, the patches improved things a lot.

I found a Java based save game editor that was even better than GateKeeper or ShadowKeeper.
You could add wands of any type with any number of charges, not just low-level wands with a handful of charges.

Something true in both tabletop and video games: A wand of Cure Light Wounds is a much better deal than carrying around 50 potions.
