Question Nevermind, got it

I picked up a used B450 board that supports Zen1 to current AM4 up to 105W TDP. I am just buying it to use as test setup, swap parts for testing, don't intend to actually put into usage beyond that. What (used) AM4 model would you get with only $50 MAX to spend? Prefer not higher than 65W model (cheaper CPU coolers).

Ryzen 5 2600 if $50 is a hard cap.

If you want IGP and the stock cooler bundled, Amazon is still selling the lesser Ryzen 3 3200G for $73.

Well heck, now I got a Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G coming, after seller accepted my offer, for $80 shipped! Couldn't resist at that price. 😛

However! My ASRock B450 board arrived and is damaged. No sign of trouble from the outside packaging, so they packed the board in this condition. VRM heatsink flopping around, corner of the board cracked. Seller has very high feedback too. Grrrrr....

OK awaiting the prepaid return label for damaged mobo. Ordered a new ASRock B450 board, same model. It was only $20 difference from the going price on used ones, so to heck with it trying to save $20 not worth this trouble.

Will you be overclocking/torturing it? Would be nice to see results.
I'll give it a whirl when I can, using stock cooler, probably next week.

Got everything up and running, but I don't even know where to begin with overclocking anymore. I haven't had AMD system in 12 years or overclocked anything in at least 10. Numerous AMD particulars in BIOS that I'm not familiar with.

My ASRock H97M Pro4 had an auto-OC feature in the BIOS and A-Tuning app that would automatically trial/increase clocks until there was a crash. The B450M Pro4 board doesn't appear to feature this.

Side note: The B450M Pro4 seems a little cheapened compared to past "Pro4" models. My H97M Pro4 is much nicer board, all around just seems more sturdy, e.g. VRM heatsinks

Just be careful it's not some CPU taken from a Lenovo office desktop coz then it might be locked to that particular mobo.

Hehe, you might be right on. This Ryzen PRO 4650G is a no-POST. Tried everything, clear CMOS, with IGP or PCI-E GPU. What is the behavior of these locked CPUs when placed in another motherboard? I get no display, no notification, not even any beeps. The CPU fan spins for about 15 seconds, then it resets and repeats this.
