I think its the floor

I remember from my stint working at PC Connection that was something they liked to check in data center remodels. Racks & battery backup has gotten heavier over the years.

Rather than tipping our servers we should instead just give them a listing cage. Sure it costs a little bit more up front to provide a listing cage, but in the long run its better everyone that you end the practice of tipping.

It's funny because you think he's talking about servers as in waiters in a restaurant and not the physical act of actually tipping over a computer server.

I would love to know more about that picture, looks like the racks were maybe just secured to the raised floor. In CA we used seismic bolts that extended from the racks through the raised floor and all the way to the concrete floor underneath, after that the racks were not tipping.

Of course the same thing about tipping applies to satellites.

The fascinating fact: All systems worked without problems. The administrator wasn´t able to find out, when this "catastrophic raised floor malfunction" occured, as there wasn´t even a reboot. At the end there was only one victim at this event: a single, unfortunate hard disk. Sun Server - build to last!
