Never thought the day would come... (epox vs GF4)

I among many are VERY upset with the EPOX and Visiontek conflict forcing me to buy a new mobo!
For those not aware of situation. Epox capacitor placement near agp slot conflicts with one on GF4.
Well I was in love with the Epox, fast and reliable, Kt266a sporting a 2000+ w/ high perf DDR.

whats next? which board plays hard?

I dont need sound, lan, raid on board but Im not going to reject because the board has 1 or all of these mentioned.

Im asking for a suggestion on the best socket A board...

I appreciate it,
Frozen

p.s. damn this sucks

Yea, it's not all GF4 cards, just certain brands. I think the two out right now (PNY and Visiontek) have the capacitors there though. The Abit KR7 boards are supposed to be really good performers.

yes...get another card.....i heard it was the brand.........not really sure who's fault it is too??? i have heard people blaming ...epox..visiontek...others.....who has the true story?????/

we all probably know the story by now and hope that a resolution comes down the line.... But I need a mobo to sport this bad boy... what do you suggest?

Actually, just call up Epox and explain it to them. Tell them you love the product, but you want a version of the board (which, according to the article of HardOCP, exists) that works with your Visiontek. They should be able to help you out.

Good luck! 😀

If you like your motherboard, I suggest you talk to Epox before you buy anything else - as they might replace your board with newer version. Also, people had limited success with GF4 and 8KHA+, depending on the size of capacitor.

As I said in my previous post a version of the board does exist that complies with AGP 2.0 specs. I would go call Epox, becaues they have great tech support and tell them your situation. It is not worth, IMO, buying a new mobo before talking to them. If you have other reasons for not wanting to call Epox, let them be known, because as it stands it makes no sense to me why you seem to ignore your ability to call epox and resolve the situation.
