Never buying amd again.

Have had my 290s since first up on newegg. Have owned for less than 4 days. And they pull this [redacted]?

😵

I paid for my copy of BF4.

Was there a promise by AMD to give you a free copy of BF4 when you bought your cards?

I read through the rest of the responses you've made here. I can understand the frustration given the other issues you are experiencing, but I simply don't agree with the sentiment expressed in this first post. You bought the cards knowing they did not come with BF4 codes. Those were the terms of the purchase when you made it.

There was more than enough speculation that the Never Settle bundle may come back. If this was that important to you, it would have been prudent to wait. Your options were to be one of the first to get the cards, or wait to see if the bundles would return and if better cooler options might surface. You chose the first option.

EDIT TO ADD
I actually think the bigger issue is the bundle itself. The way I understand Ryan's article is you only get BF4 with most of the cards. I have no interest in this. I'd rather just simply have the "Gold" tier and be able to choose the games. Thief interests me more than BF4

FWIW, I contacted their support to see what they say about retroactive bundles. Could be interesting.

I bought mine last week and will be receiving it today... just curious, what email did you contact and did you receive a favorable response?

This is a good thing 🙂 Now I can pick up a copy on [H] for $20 in the near future. I paid $15 for the Batman game because of the bundles.

It seems CurrentlyPissed is currently pissed...

Jokes aside,it was a kinda stupid move by AMD.I do agree that people shouldn't be bitching about it as nothing was promised, but if they wanted to start bundles so soon after release, why not announce it along with the card's release? It's not like something changed within a week.

Maybe they have been reading forum posts about no included games and decided to offer it earlier than expected.

So you only get BF4? Not enough to push me into the r290 yet. Maybe once aftermarket versions are out they'll up the anty enough to trigger a impulse buy.

Just email AMD (calmly)

A friend of mine bought a GTX 760 a week before the Splinter Cell bundle came out. The card manufacturer wouldn't help him but Nvidia did.

"Eidos’s upcoming Thief game will be joining the Silver tier, giving 260X buyers (and all other Silver tier holders) the option of grabbing that game if they don’t mind a wait until February of 2014."

A little something for those 7000 series owners that have been sitting on their Never Settle game picks.

I suppose it is comforting to have more people in the same boat as you when missing out on something but that's the only reason I can see for current 290 owners wanting AMD to wait another week or two before releasing the BF4 bundle offer

i can see why people are upset but look on the bright side these games will hit ebay shortly (well priced might i add)
cheers,

Guess I am going to email AMD tonight when I get home. Bought my 290 on Friday... =(

Already have BF4 anyway, so not sure what else I would do with the code if I got it.

Obviously that misses the point and entirely ignores human behavior. A robot that strictly adheres to policy wouldn't bat an eye, but a real person feels slighted. Especially by how obvious AMD made it that they were out to withhold from their core adopters, which is short sighted.

If they made this thing retroactive, I would have been very pleased with my purchase, even more so and it would have been major props to AMD. Withholding the deal only lowers my opinion of them. It was already hard to move from Nvidia, who I have had great luck with since I sold my 4870's and more recently my 7970 because of HDMI issues. This decision to put off the deal makes my time back with AMD (after having HDMI issues) soured right out of the gate.

I think the problem is it just happened so soon. Less than a week after launch? BF4 isn't even a month old, and to offer it for free is huge. Knowing it would be in the Never Settle bundle lead a lot of people, myself included, to believe it would be a bit further down the road before the bundle happened. BF4 just lost a ton of sales and value, due to it now being offered free. I could understand a month, or maybe even a couple weeks, but one week is very soon. And to just say "well, all you guys that had faith enough to buy our product on launch day get nothing" is pretty bold.

I'm kinda pissed too, since I bought BF4 over the weekend. If I would have known AMD would be giving them away for free, I would have waited for forums members to sell them at half the price I paid.

Hmm, this is kinda frustrating. Well, at least I get a chance to get it for free by contacting newegg or AMD.

I wonder if EA had anything to do with this. I can see them allowing BF4 added to a limited number of graphics cards during their initial release as a special offer, but they might not have allowed it to be in a general bundle deal until now. That way they could maximize profits when it matters most, during the initial days of release. AMD probably isn't paying the same amount per-copy that they would make for individual sales of the software (just a guess, but it makes sense).

I'm not trying to be an apologist but when any issue involves EA, I'm more inclined to believe EA is at the root of the problem than most other companies.

That is what I was getting at. It hasn't even been a month for BF4 though. I'd think it would be longer, as I suspected most people thought as well. Having the bundle so soon is going to cost EA sales of BF4 at retail price.

It might be EA who allowed non-290X BF4 bundling at this early stage, pretty sure it will help their sales numbers:

"The sales declines posted by Assassin’s Creed IV and Battlefield 4 was severe. Sales of Creed are down 60 per cent year-on-year, while Battlefield 4’s sales are down 69 per cent compared with 2011’s Battlefield 3. Week one sales of FIFA?14 were also down 24 per cent."

Not that I need it, but I guess I'll email AMD and attach a video of my 290X and two 290s. I'll stand behind them with a huge machete, garbed in a head scarf, while reading off gibberish on some 3x5 cards, intermingled with threats to decapitate the cards.

I'll report back.
