I refused to use it for whatever reason for the longest time, but since WMP10 I've been impressed with it. I still use Winamp for playing, but ripping and videos all go to WMP.

I still use mp3... I rip using CDEX and still sometimes rip to WAV and then convert using electronic cosmo's mpeg suite...

Maybe I'm just living in 2000

Hey its a good system though! Then I library my folders so that they are:

X:\Music\Artist\CD Title\00 Track.mp3

Then I enjoy them all using iTunes :)

I'll take a stab.

WMA is still a proprietery format. You can argue that MP3 is as well but MP3 plays on virtually everything. WMA doesn't necessarily do this. When given the choice between mp3 and aac or WMA or even ogg you want to pick a format that is read by 99.9% of everything out there.

As long as you don't have an iPod, you're fine.

Why would you want to rip at a lower bitrate anyway? It's not like hard drive space is expensive any more, and MP3s...gasp..play ANYWHERE, and I've never had an mp3 crash winamp, WMA however...

I put all classical music into WMA. Has better sounding high frequencies. however, I find MP3, just comes across with nicer mids and lows...IMHO of course. Might be my home audio too, 5000$ is not top of the line...
