Never gone with ATI before. Does it matter what manufacture you get of a 9500 Pro?

Its simply said above. I rekon it is just the same as nVidia where you just find the best price and buy it am I correct?
 
no not always. Certain manufacturers use different assembly parts to create their cards. While all may have the Nvidia or ATI GPU, the PCB, memory, and coolers can widely vary on some brands, especially with Nvidia based cards. If you look at a 4200Ti. You will see dozens of different models, even 4-5 different models just from one brand alone. Take Gainward for instance. They make a 4200ti/128mb/4x agp card. They also make one called a golden sample, which uses faster ns RAM. The faster RAM can make significant big difference on how well that card performs or can be OC'd. The golden sample or special edition, will generally cost 10-20% more then the base model with what appears to be the same specs (4200ti GPU/Clock speed/128mb RAM/4x AGP). Generally these different models with faster RAM don't start coming out until well after the orginal sample has been on the market for a while. Newest model cards don't usually have a "upgraded" model for a while.

as for the R9500's. ATI's cards are alot less varied through it's manufacturers like Powercolor or Saphire. I don't there are any huge differences with the different brands using the ATI base. They may give you a few extras like a CD or extra cables though.

yeah that's possible. sapphire's 2d output is supposed to be the best along with ati tho. as long as you check what speed the memory is before you buy you should be ok.
 
My sapphire 9700 non pro is a spitting image of ati retail pro card. It even has the built by ati sticker on the fan and the 2.8 ns memory.

😉 Basicly Rad9500PRO are incredibly consistent across all the manus although I've heard to avoid Powercolor cards as a general rule. As said it more to do with what's bundled by far so go by that and price and largely ignore manu. The Rad8500 & 9100 vary heavily across the manus and this is something which really plagued them, it seems ATI have learnt from this so go get a 9500PRO!
 
Sapphire does manufacturing for ATI so when you order a Sapphire you just may get a true ATI card. I've gotten several sapphire 8500's that are ATi OEM.

Even if you do get a true Sapphire, they are still as close to the real thing you can get, with superb 2D.
 
Sapphire/ATI = good
other = unknown (check for reviews before buying)
PowerColor = best to avoid most of the time. 🙁
 
When it comes to ATi clones usually all of the manufacturers follow quite closely to the reference design.

Oh, and PowerColor is just fine. I have their 9700 Pro and it follows the reference design almost exactly, including an ATi sticker on the fan.

tyan is another option, they make both radeon 9500/9700 pro, go here for the review. the review states this is the only radeon 9500 pro that allows overclocking without any type of hardware/software modifications.
 
FIC/Epox is the same type of business relationship as Sapphire/ATI, they build MB's for Epox. So I would imagine their video cards to be good quality.
