NEVER challenge Gaston to pushups UPDATE- He's back!

I didn't see Gaston do a single pushup in that video.

I could do a hundred pushups too if I only had to lean down a couple inches for each one.

The first key to a one-armed push-up is to rotate the body and get the center of gravity over the arm that is touching the ground. That's where the tourist failed completely. The guy playing Gaston probably has some dancing and/or gymnastics background.

But even if you get the positioning right it is not that easy at all to do a bunch of 4" dips that way. Try it.

Also:

Try it wearing 50 pounds of foam rubber.

Not sure his costume allowed him to do full pushups. He has foam biceps on and shoulder pads.

Or he is oil pumping which is even bigger reason to not go full bend, your damn arm can pop open!

Exactly, to all the naysayers. I was just there and saw this guy week before last and he's rambunctious and plays the character perfectly. I've seen the movie too many times because my wife is a fan and we have two daugthers that are eight years apart in age.

Anyway, those weren't terrible push-ups when you consider the costume implications. It's not like he can touch his chest and come up with grime all over his costume. This guy was well over 6' and physically fit even underneath the costume. He was a riot to watch though.

There was a Reddit AMA not long ago with a Disney character actor.

He talked about how to be a "face actor" (not like the big suit you would ear if you play goofy) you basically have to have a couple years under your belt as a suit actor(which is hard in itself) and know the character, and all the lines from all the movies, forward and back, because the fans will quiz the shit out of you.

Fun fact: If you play Mickey, you have to have to be able to perfectly replicate Mickeys signature as Walt Disney originally signed it. That way any and all signatures obtained from Mickey, even decades apart, appear the same. I think this signature rule applies to some of the other classic characters as well, like Donald Duck, Goofy, etc.

Characters are only out one at a time in each park. It is to appear that they exist to little kids. If you have more than one in a park then they will know it is fake and ruin the magic for little kids. Something like this. That is why you have to wait for 2+ hours to get your picture taken with Anna and Elsa.

I don't think that's entirely true. They just make sure they aren't near eachother, like opposite sides of the park.

No way they an get away with only one Elsa at all times. shit would be madness.

And it's possible the guy with giant pillows stuffed in his shirt might not have full range of motion.

Waiting for the video of you doing even 50 one-armed half pushups. 😀

I guess I was figuring he was someone from one of the newer CGI movies.

I'm kinda surprised that character is even used in the parks...how many kids running around there are watching animated films from 1991?

er, yeah... my 3 and 5 year-old nieces know all the characters from pretty much every Disney cartoon movie.

Thru do have more than one character out at a time, they try not to though. One of the most common is to have one in a parade and one in their own area of a park.

What did the girl do? did she lick her hand? one poster in youtube says she covered her mouth and said go and then took him by surprise. but he wipes his hand on his shirt like it was wet or something and he acts disgusted.

She did the old "spit on your hand and disgust your opponent" trick. Laughed my ass off!

Bump for update 😀

How has this thread gone so long without this?

The Toy Story characters used to go limp and drop to the ground if anyone yelled "Andy's coming" but had to stop because people were doing it all the damn time and Disney was worried it became a safety issue.

theres a masterbation joke in there somewhere.

As others have said, this character isn't even fully locking out or going full depth. The one handed ones are still impressive but meh.

Yeah, but he did it with a big ass smile. And who knows, that might have been the 10th time he was challenged to some feat of strength that day. He's still doing a good job entertaining the kids.
