Buy.com nearly ruined Christmas
on 12/10, I ordered a Guitar Hero bundle. Nothing spectacular, but a decent deal with GC. Got the usual confirmation e-mails from both buy.com and GC. So far so good.
on 12/14, I received a box. Oh joy! My son's present has arrived. Except that it's only half the order. Guitar was in the box, but no game. I double checked the invoice and it clearly said "BUNDLE". I looked at the e-mails which also said "BUNDLE". After MUCH digging (and cussing) I finally found the buried page containing a tracking number. FedEx indicated a single box, so it wasn't a split shipment.
At this point, I politely filed my first online request for customer service/support. Immediately received an autoreply. Crickets chirped. Pins dropped. Nothing further. OK, so maybe the e-mail filter caught their response. Unlikely since I received the autoreply, but still... I submitted a second request for cust. svc, this time including TWO UNFILTERED e-mail addresses as well as the original AND two telephone numbers. More crickets and pins in the deafening silence. Wash, rinse, repeat five more times.
I sent a total of seven electronic requests for service over the course of a week and have yet to receive a reply to any. Their autoreplies brag that "if you feel your request needs escalating, we can e-mail you a telephone number". Yeah right.
It's now 12/22, the final business day before Christmas. My wife had to go spend ANOTHER $40 to get the game to go with the guitar controller. Now buy.com owes ME money. I've never had a problem with them before other than the difficulty in tracking an order when using GC because they don't show up on the buy.com account page. However, screwing around with my kid's Christmas is way beyond unacceptable and they certainly won't get another cent from me. Moreover, I will tell anyone/everyone who will listen about getting ripped off. 'Caveat Emptor' when dealing with buy.com.
Screw you, buy.com
Merry @#$%ing Christmas
