Gee, I have 8GB of RAM, and then the WUs start to take all of that, leading to swapping (got to have room for Windows too), so I upgrade to a new rig with 16GB of RAM, and now the WUs are taking... 1.2GB? (Edit: 2.2GB. Still, not nearly 8GB like before.)
It appears they are starting a new cycle. Those WUs will grow.
You are being rewarded! :p Now you can run multiple WU's?
Neurona limits you to one core. However, you could use a couple of VMs to process more. You would need to stop the VMs as the WUs become larger.

Yes, they did start a new cycle.
Dear volunteers,

in the last weeks you have computed 640000 WUs with peaks of about 10GB RAM, which is pretty high. Congratulations, not many projects can say they have such devoted high spec helpers.

From the many results obtained, there is only one promising solution found, and this is the corresponding to the WU labelled Prueba10156690.pro, the only one able to sustain the neuronal activity for a long period of time, but still not for the complete simulation round.

I stop temporarily the computation of this WUs and start a new batch of WUs that explore a different solution space. As I already explained in another thread, you are going now to compute WUs changing the inhibition recovery rate and time, instead of exploring networks with high connectivity.

The first effect is that Phase IV requires quite less RAM, 1 or 2 GB should be enough. You have been computing some of these the last few days and they run fast and easy, so I expect this batch (which is composed of 680000 WUs) to be finished in just a few weeks.

Regards,

Javier.

Could someone tell me how to obtain an invite code?

You got PM!

Note: Only 64 bit OS is used (to access memory---16GB recommended.)

Right now the WU sizes are about 2GB so you can run with less memory. Keep an eye on your swap file activity.

If you want to run more than one WU per machine you need to set up VMs.

Add this line to cc_config.xml

<report_results_immediately>1</report_results_immediately>

This will improve the reporting speed. The downloaded WU still waits for another WU to finish.

Thanks RT. I got 2 comps with Win 7 with 12 Gbyte RAM and 16 GByte RAM respectively. Should work out well ...

I've got a complete Neurona@home WU, that has been "Ready to report", for like a week now. It has a deadline of 3/23/2012. It's the 27th.

I click on Projects tab, Neurona, click "Update", it just says "communication deferred" for like 2 hours.

Has anyone been able to get or upload Neurona WUs this week?

No, Neurona has been down for approx 1 week. I have finished WUs sitting there and waiting for three comps too ... :(

Apologie: I have tried to sent PM, but i just registered for the invite Code so i hadn't had the recuirred 10 posts to send a PM to an admin.

Bidding:Can someone pls send me an invite Code for Neurona@home?

Thanks in advance Empirelord.

Is Neurona@Home still going on? I thought it was dead.

It's not dead. It has about 100 WUs available.

I have conflicts with with some shared-libraries that I haven't been able to resolve, otherwise I would be running on the rig that has 16GB of memory.

Hmm, I just re-enabled Neurona@Home, and I got not one, but two WUs. On an E-350 rig with 8GB of total physical RAM.

Why am I getting two WUs at a time now? Is that really going to screw me up (swapping on my SSD)?

Edit: Just came out to my computer, both WUs displayed "Computation error".

Our team rank here is 20 and with just 500 ppd we are catching 7 other teams (although slowly), with a little more oomph we could really do a lot on this project!

If you have 8GB ram it shouldn't cause swapping, what is your memory usage after the tasks have been running some, shouldn't be higher than 4gb due to Neurona. Possibly the other project you run should be a low memory usage one. I mainly run the project on my GPU machines, this leaves 6 or so cores open to ensure i get optimal power to run the GPUs.

My 3930K (12 threads) has 32 GB of ram. After the June SIMAP work is done I can turn the 3930K loose on this project. How much RAM/thread is needed?

It needs about 2GB per thread. But they lock it to 2 threads per host, so if you wanted to use up 12 threads you'd need virtual machines.

Thanks Alyx! 2 threads are fine with me.
