Networking XP and 2000AS

Well its been 2 days now and I cant figure it out. Previously I had 2 2k systems working fine on it. I change done of the systems to XP and now they cant see eachother.

Things Ive done..

-Created a like used on both machines
-enabled netbui sharing in tcp/ip properties
-created the same workgroup name
-shared specific drives to "everyon" and the specific user
im at a loss

does anyone have a suggestion.. or a link to a step by step tutorial.. i dont understand what is going on
 
wow... i just installed the netbuis protocol on the AS box and now i can see eachother. .not the drives correctly though.. so nevemrind i figured it out.. i wouldve thought that the protocol wouldve been on by default.. guess not
 
You're doing something wrong if you have to enable NetBeui in a 2k/xp environment. It's not necessary.
How about providing us with some info re:
Domain or Workgroup
IP information.
Name resolution method.
