Networking, Security, and XP...help?

I have three computers in my home and would like to run a small network. I have them all running through a hub out to cable modem. When I use the Networking wizard and I select the correct options it tells me that it enables the Internet Connection Firewall for safety. So with it enabled I can't seem to see the other computers, but with it disabled I am succeptable to A-Holes snooping in my files....

Any suggestions on how to remedy this? Sorry, kind of a networking newbie.....
Thanks!

I wouldn't trust MS on security.

You could get a hardware or Linux firewall, and hide your LAN behind it. Or, install somekind of software firewall on all puters then poke holes (Port Forward) in your IP masquerade to let all puters communicate with each others (kinda like a two way trust relationship)
