I'm looking for an online networking tutorial to give me a solid start in terms of networking knowledge. I'm not looking to be able to do extremely complex stuff (yet), but rather to have enough knowledge to know what would be a real PITA to do. I'm not a computer newbie, actually I work as a tech at my university, but I am weakest in networking... and that's where I am getting transferred to. They know they're going to have to train me, but I'd prefer to have a higher level of knowledge before starting there. Something in the range of 100-200 pages worth of text would be ideal

Mookow, I can't emphasize enough the value of Just Doing It. There are many great introductions out there, but hands-on is where you really learn.

Oh, and use UNIX, or Linux. Windows hides a lot of important things from you.

I really dont have much of a choice in terms of what OS to use. They are giving me my own computer to use, but it also has to be available for other people to use if their computer goes belly up, so Win2K it is.

And I will be "just doing it", thats is my job, but having some idea of what to do other than in broad, general terms is rather helpful *insert joke about two virgins screwing*
