If I have two computers and one of them has a cable-modem, how do I get the other one to be able to browse the internet and play games online?

What OS does the computer connected to the cable modem use? If it is Windows 98SE (must be second edition), you can add another NIC to that computer and then turn on Internet Connection Sharing (through Add/Remove Programs->Windows Setup->Internet Tools). After that, just connect the two computers with a cross-over cable and set the second computer to connect through your LAN. You could also use a cable/DSL router, but most cable companies charge extra money for multiple computers using one connection.

Add a second network card to the system that is connected to the modem. Then use NAT32. Pretty easy to setup. Then use a crossover cable to connect the computers.

You can use a router and that way, 1 computer does not have to be on in order to use the other one. I recommend the Linksys BEFSR41. It is very easy to set up.

my experience is that routers are good but they are expensive and can sometimes be extremely difficult to set up.
My advice would be to follow the win09se ics advice.

ICS is a POS IMHO

what you can do is get another IP from the cable company, make sure each poota has a NIC, buy a switch, hook the cable modem into the uplink port of the switch, and each computer into it's own port (1 and 2 for example)
