I don't get it...I got connected and I can visit any site and its pretty fast so I really like that. But I tried to test it out to see what I get with bitorrent or Newsgroups and the newgroups won't download anything, and I can't get anything on Bitorrent (unliscened anime)

Anyone know what is going on and how I can remedy this? One of the perks I was hoping for was the ability to be able to download faster and gets things quicker but this isn't turning out like I hoped.

thanks

btw- I'm @ UCI (Uni of Cal IRvine)

More than likely your College network has certain ports blocked and a firewall on. Your best bet would be to contact the network admin and ask.

Firewall... tough luck joe.

Thats why in our dorms, about 4 students band up and share a private DSL broadband connection via WLAN.

Even if the port weren't blocked, there would probably be a traffic limit instead. On our campus it's 2GB / month

Living in the dorm I could never play any online games, I could only play LAN games with guys on my floor. It all goes back to the point earlier about bandwidth and resources...when you do the file sharing/playing online games, it clogs the network...calling for more resources...and more resources means more money...and universities don't like to spend money they don't have too.
