Networking problems with vista

I'll start off by giving my specs and other info to clear up any questions. I am using an hp laptop with a Amd Turion 64x2 with a gig of ram, vista premium and my network devices are NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller and Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN. I am using a 2.5 mbps connection speed. For some reaosn my laptop will not utilize my connection speed and downloads files at a rate of 20kbps while my other computers in the house using xp download at about 400kbps+. All of the computers run through the same modem, and i can not figure out why my laptop is doing this. All drivers are up to date and it is hardwired. Thanks for any help.

what wireless router do you have and how are all the other computers connected (ie are they all wireless or are they all wired)?
