networking problem between XP and Vista

Originally I was running all xp machines and had no problems sharing files/accessing the hard drive of any machine from any other. I then upgraded one of the machines to vista. Since then the vista machine can see and access all but the xp ones can only see each other.

I've searched this several times but haven't found anything that provides good info other than check settings in positions I already have them or talks about a seemingly more common problem of vista not being able to see xp. Anyone have experience with this or know a link discussing this problem?

Many parts of the info in Vista can not be freely shared No matter what you do.

If you are the only user and do not care about security.

Make a Subfolder to C:

Built a sub directories system under it.

Switch On the Guest account. Make in the security setting the Guests Co-Owners with full permission..

Set the new main folder that you made to Share and volia, every thing under this folder and its sub folders would be available on the Network without any name and need for password.

You can add new sub folders files etc. to the main folder and every thing would be automatically available with out any further configuration.

Map the folder and it would appear as a Network Drive.

With a little imagination this principle can be used in different variation (including restrictions of some parts to specific users).

Otherwise.

Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings, http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html

As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what it is allowed to be shared.
